Hi all

I just changed the brake pads on my 04 G sedan and also had the rotors resurfaced - i didn't go to the dealer in an effort to cut costs so I took it to a reputable local service station to do the work. I also figured this is fairly routine work that anyone can do well...

After the new pads and resurfaced rotors were done, I noticed that just at the moment when the car comes to a complete stop, I hear a weird noise, a thud like sound. This happens everytime I brake but I only hear the noise just at the moment the car comes to a complete stop.

Actually I recall when I had my pads replaced by the dealer a few years ago that a similar thing happened but i can't seem to remember what I did, if anything, to resolve the problem

Did anyone ever have this problem and if so, what is the cause and what did you do about it??

Take it back. It shouldn't be making any noise.

 

im thinking the pads were not clipped in properly. they might need to purchase a hardware kit with it. yea, noise is a no no

 

Mine did that about 2 weeks after I had new pads/rotors installed (aftermarket). As you said, it only happened after a complete stop. Dealer said it was due to the aftermarket rotors not being oem fit/finish, so they didn't do anything. The noise went away by itself about 2 weeks later, and hasn't returned since.
