Is there a chance it was an option pre 04 that was made standard post 04?... If so, they probably didn’t make any changes in the sending unit - just added the sensors… if so, the coupe wheels he bout should be okay – they just need to reset the sensors.

On the other hand I do know the ECU was upgraded post 03… so the “sending unit” may have been too… this is an interesting wait and see… Hopefully the OP won’t drop off the face of the earth like so many other black hole G35 questions…

the wheels should be picked up sometime this week and I PROMISE to keep you guys apprised of the goings-on

Too bad, so the question now is what will you do with sensors that are useless to you?

I've seen them sell for at least $100 on eBay for used. The cheapest new I recall is around $260. New stems should not be that expensive.

new stems are pretty cheap even metal ones... be carefull with the tps though - the can be damaged if not careful, then you'll have a pissed off buyer that thinks you screwed them...

yea I'll jsut keep them on as they are. When/if I decide to sell the wheels They'll be that much more appealing.

On a good note, I actually sold my ugly FAST wheels for $800! (with tires)

Very true, I learned that the hard way when I got my first tire change. They broke one the sensors and I had to rush to Nissan to buy another one at around 100 bucks.

Anyone know if the car can regonize 2 sets? Or how to program the sensors? I just realized ever since my broken sensor incident the car constantly gives me the warning even though all the tires check ok. Must not have been programmed.

I have a RAV4 as a DD and that has a reset button that I can set a reference point, but I think that system is axle based as it does not have tire sensors.

the dealer needs to reprogram them... I hope you don't go through what I went through.... 4 trips for the false tps light before the fix... first they reprogrammed all the sensors, within a day the light was on again... then they told me the tire pressure was actually low - that pissed me off (because I knew that was total BS and I told them so) but I let them inflate (to a pressure much higher than it needed to be) within 20 miles the light came on, then they decided the sending unit was bad so replaced it - within 20 miles the light came on... then they finally narrowed it down to right rear sensor was bad so they replaced. Ironically the first trip (2 months prior) I told them I had a suspicion it was a bad sensor in one of the rear tires.

Anyway, don't let them BS you about the problem. At one point the service manager even suggested it was because I powder coated my wheels nearly 2 yrs with powder coated wheels and all of the sudden they cause a problem? What an idiot! I won't name the dealer but I will say they use to be great! All I can say now is they lost some key people and I could not in good faith say they are that good anymore.

You gotta love the stupid responses you get from some service departments. It sounds like I wont be able to run the two sets easily. I'll just have to leave them on the stock wheels for the winter, safer anyway. Does the sensor have to be out of the wheel for reprogramming or can they do it from within the wheel? How much do they usually charge for the reprogram?

if you're still under warranty and it's an issue like I had they don’t charge... If you want them to reprogram for aftermarket or something other than failure, I don’t know what they would charge... I don’t believe they take them out to reprogram (in fact I'm almost positive they do not) - however I didn’t watch so can’t be 100% sure.
