Car Shut Off...

My wife and I were driving back from California today in the G35 when something strange happened. I was driving on I-8 near Jacumba, doing about 80 mph with the cruise control on. I had to slow down for a car in front of me, so I hit the 'coast' button and slowed down to about 75 mph. Once the car was out of my way, I pushed the 'accel' button to move back up toward my 80 mph. As soon as I hit the 'accel' button, everything turned off, and I mean everything; engine, gauges, A/C, radio, etc. It was just as if I had removed they key from the ignition or something. So I put it in neutral, started it up again, put it back into drive and kept going. Everything was normal for the rest of the trip back to Arizona, but I did notice that the little red light on the dash (on my '03 it's in the center of the dash next to the clock...it's the light that flashes red when the factory alarm is on) was SOLID red. Once we got to Yuma to refuel, when I turned the car back on the light was off like normal.

Any ideas on what this could be? I am especially curious if the red light on the dash being solid had any significance?? I did a search and found some similar experiences due to the MAF sensor being dirty, but our car only has a K&N drop-in filter that hasn't been re-oiled. Any ideas out there?

do u have after market intake? If u do, then ECU reset will solve the problem if not time for trip to a dealer.

So no ideas on this from anyone? It hasn't happened since, just that once. And the SES light never came on, just that little red light on the dashboard stayed on for a little while. What does that little red light mean, someone has to know.....

I have a conspiracy theory that the cars are programmed to do this right around 40k, keeps the dealers busy...

I know quite a few people this has happened to, happens once or twice then the car is fine.
