Help with the Popcharger assembly

Hello Folks,
I just received the popcharger and now need your help with the assembly. You guys weren't kidding when you say the edge trim is such a b*tch to install onto the heatshield. I think I got it right but if I compare the photo from the instruction, I am thinking my edge trim is backwards...or omething is...maybe the foam was attched on the wrong side of the trim...I dunno!

Can someone take a close up photo of theirs that shows a bit of detail? I attached pics of mine. Thanks in advance.DOMO

Thanks for the pic bailey. From what I can see on yours, the foam seem to
be on the inside and not out like in my photos. I am going to re-install it
but the cuts on the foam will not line up with the bends on the heatshield.
Anyway, I will try that out and see what it looks like.

You're exactly right. The trim should be on the inside - it fills the gap between the air filter and the heat shield. Oh, and yes, a complete PITA.

I winded up cutting mine into sections because of the same thing. I think they are backwards.

After cutting it up, it fit like I would have imagined it came like

Let me snaps some pics...be back in a few

Try boiling some water in a large pot and soak the pieces of rubber in the water for a few minutes. Be careful not to let rubber touch bottom of pot for too long or it will melt to pot. Once rubber is nice and hot it will be much more pliable and easier to work with.

Here are pics from my install, hope this helps:

The top section was more up than lying down at first but the hood pressing down on it took care of that.

As you can see, after cutting the one long section into 3 pieces, I started with what would have been the bottom piece, reversed it and started with it on the top section. After putting all the pieces in place, I cut the rubber sections so they overlapped each other.

Good luck

I couldn't wait anylonger so I went and did some wrenching after my second post.

I finished my install and went for a quick ride. Man, does it sound great!
Sounds throaty like a real sports sedan should be.

You guys are excellent help. I re-installed the trim in reverse to get the foam facing inside the shield. Had to make new cuts where the bends are. I do think that the foam was either installed on the wrong side of the trim or the cuts were made in reverse.

Marty, your set up looks exactly like mine...where the foam attached to the shield is on the outside wrapping around the trim attached to the plastic stock intake. I think abailey's is the opposite.

Thanks again guys...Gpapa, do't worry-I am all set now! Next mod is to lower the car but I can't afford the coilovers just yet.
