Introduction and an easy question

Hi everyone, I've been a lurker on the forums since I bought my G a year ago, and instead of posting the usual pointless introduction thread, I figured I might as well ask a question along with it.

I'm going to take a stab at changing my oil myself tomorrow, and a coworker mentioned I have to remember to lube the chassis while I'm at it. I thought your average chassis these days was sealed, but are there any grease zerks on the G that I need to lube while I'm under there?

Thanks guys!

Not that I'm aware of. I've always changed my own oil, and I never had to lube the chassis while under the car.

I don't think so.

like you said.. most modern cars are sealed under the body with a material to keep it from rusting... i dont know why you would need to lube that up.

I thought "lubing the chassis" was something they used to do back in the 1960's. I highly doubt anything is regularly lubed under modern cars. If it was suppose to be, the maintenance schedule for our cars would say something, and dealerships would be trying to sell us that crap when we go in for service. Joe, how old is your co-worker?

Thanks for the help guys, everything went smooth today. The DIYs on this site are really helpful.

Yeah my co-worker isn't that old, I guess he just works on old trucks and tractors a lot
