Re: 04 6mt wiggling headlights

the xenon light is a gas arc. as you hit bumps and stuff the arc will move. It is NOT the headlight assembly moving, just the arc

Hope that clears it up.

Completely normal.

Re: 04 6mt wiggling headlights

That is not correct. The actual headlight housing inside is moving. I have had many HID cars from Audi, Acura, Maxima to this car, none had this problem.

Re: 04 6mt wiggling headlights

I think a lot of it depends on how the light is focused. I wide beam with blury edges will not yeild a gittery image while a focused image with a razor sharp cutoff like our cars will. Also, pay close attention to oncoming cars with HIDs next time you drive at night. You can actually see their lights flicker as they hit bumps in the road. I think it is a design feature, or error if you will, and that there is nothing inherintly (spelling?) wrong with the vehicle. If there was something loose, I'm sure you would hear it. Also for sh-ts and giggles, reach your arm up to the back of the housing and try to giggle the wires and the back of the bulb. I'm sure you will find it is secure.

Re: 04 6mt wiggling headlights

My 04 350z w/ HID doesn't wiggle. I figured that the more expensive g35 wouldn't have this kind of problem.
On my G35, it seems like all the lights wiggle, not just the HID, but the fog lights wiggles too. The light fixture seems to be snug, but i havn't checked to see if the wiring to the light bulbs are loose. I'm gonna find out what the service department says about it.

Re: 04 6mt wiggling headlights

I have never noticed my 04' wiggle. Is this a problem on the 03.5 or earlier?

Re: 04 6mt wiggling headlights

with 40 series tires and s-tein springs, the wiggling is more noticeable......if the whole headlight assembly is not snug, there must be a way to tighten it? i certainly hope that is the case rather than bulb sitting loosely in the socket..... gonna tighten any and all bolts i see that's attached to headlight assembly and, pardon the pun, see what happens.....

sixgearsedan, look at the rear of vehicle in front of you when your headlights are on, esecially over train tracks or rough roads........if no wiggling for you, be happy..

midnightclayton, please post back what the dealer had to say when you can, thanks.

Re: 04 6mt wiggling headlights

I stopped by the dealership yesterday, but the service department was already closed. I did speak to a sales guy and he said that he's never heard of that problem before but it is not normal and to bring it in, also, i spoke w/ the finance manager and he also said the same thing. I need to call to make an appt and see if they can fix it. I'll keep all you wigglers posted. Has anyone else had this problem and tried to resolve it???

Re: 04 6mt wiggling headlights

allright folks, i seem to found the culprit to the wiggling problem...it's that "reflector" piece that the light bounces off of.....i tapped the headlight unit with my fist, and the reflector piece shook!!!! i guess mine shakes alot more than others cuz the headlights really bounce.......i tightened down the 10mm bolt that hold the headlight assemble, both sides, and it helped alittle......the object now is to somehow make that reflector piece, for headlight and fog/highbeam, stable......has anyone opened the headlight assembly? if so, let me know

Re: 04 6mt wiggling headlights

I just had another thought. It seems to me that many european HIDs are self leveling ( I guess some sort of free floating design ) which I think would damper the wiggling some.
