My sedan loves

Shell gas. After years of using Army gas (AAFES) and getting 15-17 MPG, I recently found that with the same aggressive driving and stop and go traffic I consistently got 18.5 using shell's 93. WTF? Was the Army gas that bad? On the other hand, I've heard before in this forum that shell sucks, so what gives.

I always heard Shell has good gas. Anyways, 17-18 MPG city is common with the G35 and 20+ highway.

I case you can read into details let me break it down for you. I am in the ARMY, that's who I work for, and if it were for shell I probably won't be in the army. Hey my car just drives longer on their ****, maybe it's not the same for you, let me guess Chevron or Mobil one for you right? The expensive stuff.

Try explaining that one to infiniti during the warranty process for a messed up engine.

I was just doing some searching at it appears that Shell is widely held as the best gasoline. It is a top tier gas, the same as Chevron, but has several tests out there that you will get better mileage with Shell. A lot of this has to do with the additive and not just the base gasoline. Some companies use others tanks to supply their stations since it will be cheaper, but use their own additive.

I sometimes do work at our local fuel tank farm, and where I live all the counties gas is brought in by ship 1.5 million gallons a week. The gas is all the same only separated by octane rating, well when the fuel is pumped into trucks to be taken to various gas stations they add the addititve for each gas station right then. I know this because I've seen the separate tanks labeled "chevron additive" and "shell additive" So at least where I live the fuel is all the same only the additive is different.

yea, ive used 91 onbase (NEX) as well and i didnt get as great MPG as shell. it is cheaper.. so i guess that accounts for it.
as stated, the additives in shell do play a big role
