i always use the back floorboard. rear windows are tinted darker, and if your tall at all the front seats shade that area as well...temp wise though it probably varies very little, but that is where i use, it also prevents wandering eyes!

In an ice chest in the trunk.

I keep a laptop in my car all the time in the Phoenix sun and have never had any problems. We checked the surface temp of my car the other day and it was 192!

lower is better, under a seat, if it fits, is where i kept mine, less visible too...
