well its neever a good idea to store a laptop in the car..higher temps KILL the battery life..and sooner or later you are going to notice that even after a charge the battery is going to last less

same applies to anything with a rechargable battery...ipods..phones..laptops...etc

i guess if you have to though..under the seat?

It would most probably be cooler in the back,parked in the shade.

As for the "coolest" part of the car that would be the ejecter seats,and the note from those pipes.

I would not keep it on the floor because a lot of the exhaust and drivetrain heat soaks up from under. I would put it in the trunk. And yeah, an ice chest would be even better if it started out cool, no ice, but cool room temp so the insulation would keep it cooler for a while longer.
