The reluctant racer?
The reluctant racer?
So, it's mid Sunday morning, the Chicago snow has cleared, the sun is out and my G is covered in salt. I took it too the gas station, filled it up, ran it through the touchless car wash and then went over too the hand wash for a $20 special.
It was great, these blokes were cleaning the G, I had a good cup of coffee, was reading the Tribune and then this bloke walks in and demands that somebody get too his car immediatley "as he was in a rush". Youngish bloke about my ahe (early 30's) and of course he was driving a 330ci (cliche').
So, he's talking too the girl who works there and he's going on about "tell them too be careful" with the tire dressing and "do they regularly clean ou the vacuum cleaners"..blah, blah, blah.
Both our cars get driven outside too get hand dried, I'm standing there, he's fussing over his car..and then he looks at me, at my car and literally "scoffs" and shakes his head. I've previously owned two Bimmers and I've never understood the mentality "that mine is better than yours", but this bloke was really getting on my thrupennies. So they finish his car first and he get's in and is just sitting there for a few minutes till they finish mine, I jump in, adjust the mirror and I'm away and Mr.Bimmer is right behind me.
We both turn right onto a pretty long stretch of two 4 lane road, he looks at me and he floors it...back end fishtailing everywhere.
I normally have my daughter or clients in the car , but this time was alone and thought what the hell, I left it in auto and by about 40mph was up too him, by about 55 was 2 cars in front of him and by about 80 he was way behind.
I have too admit it was pretty thrilling, just being in that kind of situation, the funny thing was I slowed down after about 80 too about 55 and he came flying past me, like he won or something?
Either way i got home and realized that my car was covered once again in salt & dirty water...oh well, the price one pays for driving a G.....
By the way, I told my wife about it and I think the general consensus is "I'm immature, incredibly irresponsible and stupid!"......ladies & gentlemen, that's love.

Re: The reluctant racer?
It's funny how people think that just because we own a G35 that we are all racers, I took out an bimmer last week as the lanes were merging into one and the guy follows me all the way to my front door and then asks if he I want to race him, of course I knew I would get beat so I said sure and opened the garage door to get into my 3000gt and the guy says uh no it's ok and left.....haha.
My wife told me to act my age
...damn I'm only 35.
