nasty orange lighting

anything out there to change the tach and speedometer, can i even change the bulb to a white one?? seems like the actual tach is colorless, u can see that when the car is off, it goes completely dark. i think the orange bulb it the culprit... anyone done this, or can offer suggestions?? thanks

Re: nasty orange lighting

I think the gagues have a tinted glass between them and the driver.. which is what makes everything seem very dark when teh car is off..... some dicussion was that there is some film on the inside that makes it the color it is -- but its all speculation if i remmeber correctly.

Well here is a picture off of japanparts.com with white face instruments. This is the automatic version of course. The background lights are still orange though.

Re: nasty orange lighting

One thing I've loved about the Maximas is their awesome white-on-black/black-on-white reversing gauges. I wish that Infiniti's "Fine Vision" or whatever the hell they call the orange glow could be thrown out and use Nissan's setup instead.

Ah well. I'll take RWD and orange over FWD and white.

I wish someone would take the time, money, and effort to go and install some nice blue led's. You know like futuristic. I'm basically talking about the the new TL and TSX. I wish our cars had that futuristic blue led look. There have been some guys over on acura-cl.com and acura-tl.com that have done conversions for their whole interior to consist of LED's. Try a search and you'll see what it looks like. I wouldn't do it yet because I don't want to tear up the car on first attempt.

Re: nasty orange lighting

You can do it, just takes time. When I had a Audi, alot of people swapped out the RED Leds with Blue or White ones. Got rid of the Red gauges and radio / instruments to blue or white look.

It is possible, but someone willing to hack the dash to do it? Dunno.

I would just be happy if the low fuel light was a contrasting color :*(

Too bad the NISMO is in kilometers, I wonder if it's just the stickers or if the digital odometer comes with the kit.

Re: nasty orange lighting

For the outrageous price they're asking, I believe its the entire gauge cluster. The overlays usually go for ~$30 on ebay, these are close to $1k I believe.
