Mod question for satellite radio and aftermarket nav

I have a 2006 G35 sedan, that did not come with navigation. I would like to discreetly install my XM Roady receiver AND get a GPS Nav unit for the car, but cant make it work. Right now I have the XM mounted inside the lid in the flip up compartment beneath the clock (flip the lid up, and the XM is right there, very visible).

I've measured, and I dont have room for the XM and a Nav unit side by side like this....so what are my options? All I can think of is to somehow remove the ashtray from the dash, and recess an lower profile XM unit into it so that its flush mounted...has anyone done this before??

I currently have the Roady XT for the XM radio, and have not yet purchased a nav unit such as a Tom Tom or whatever.....primarily because I have no where to put it.
