G Tech Pro SS, advice?
New pics, videos, and a quick question on G-Tech Pro SS!
Hey guys,
I just sent payment to another forum member for a G-Tech Pro SS. I am wondering if anyone has had experience with the g-tech, and if they can give me any feedback. Is there a yaw factor I have to enter in? Are the times generally accurate? How much lower is the hp reading from the g-tech as opposed to advertised hp or in comparison to rwhp? I've wanted one of these for a while, so it's exciting to see what it says about my car.
I have an 03 base sedan with the mods listed in my sig (1/2" Motordyne spacer, Z-tube, Amsoil high flow filter, Coupe mid-pipe), and I look forward to seeing if the lighter weight makes any difference.
Thanks for any help!

I've had one for a couple years now and I think they're great. I first had it in my 1990 Corvette. I mainly got it for the rpm gauge and shift lights. That part worked great for me as my tach didn't.
I have tried it out in my 1 month old g35x and recorded a 0 to 60 of 6 sec. I believe that they are fairly accurate based on experience and what I've read on the Vette boards.
Even if they aren't completely accurate they are a lot of fun to play around with as they have lots of options and allow you to practice for the dragstrip.
I think that they may be best used to measure performance after upgrades.

I've borrowed them at the 1/4 mile strip just to see how accurate they were. Overall, it's been my experience they read about .2 seconds quicker and 3mph faster than what you're real timeslip will say.
I had this conversation when I had mine and remember calling some one,, not sure if it was the vendor or them directly,,, this was about 5-6 years ago. I did the same comparison at the drag strip and results were much the same as DaveB mentioned. They explained that the mph at the drag strip was an average mph going thru the speed trap and the Gtech was mph at the 1/4 mile. Also, as far as elapsed time, the gtech is not affected by deep staging or shallow staging and according to them was more consistent.

Our cars can probably manage about 4 MPH increase every second at 100 MPH, so from the beginning of the 66' trap to the end would gain about 1.8 MPH. But remember that the trap speed is an average over the length, so the speed at the end is maybe 0.9 MPH better than the average. Call it 1 MPH in round numbers.
Your suggestion of 3 MPH difference isn't very far off!
