I am currently scheduled to have my 30k tune-up next week at my local Infiniti dealer and was quoted a ballpark price of $675!
Is there a compelling reason to take it to the dealer, or is it just as good going to a decent local mechanic to have routine maintenance done?
I have no complaint about my dealer, I love 'em, it's just a price tag of nearly 700 bucks to get a tune up is awfully hard to swallow!

On thing you might try is tell them you only want the required services listed in the manual performed, and none of the extra stuff they're most likely throwing in.

Any local mechanic is fine, too.

"Tune-up" is an obselete term. You need to get an itemized list of the exact maintenance items that will be done for the 30k service, then decide which can be done by an indy shop, which you can do yourself, or which may be optional.

I actually called them back and found that to stay within my vehicle warranty parameters, I could just have the same scheduled maintenance that I did at 15k and be just fine.
Saving about 300 bucks in the process.
As was mentioned, what the manufacturer requires and what the dealer would love to charge you, I find now, are two very different things. It seems like a lot of the items added to the 30k maintenance schedule are pretty "fluff" items like checking the A/C ducts for mold, etc.
I can see that this car is pretty bulletproof, and haven't had ANY problems with it at all, I change oil regularly and it is parked in covered areas day and night. I feel very safe going with the reduced maintenance deal and upping it when it gets closer to 60-70k.

Yeah, that's what the salesman told me as well, a lot of thosethings are "suggested" not required, too bad they don't all do that!

Dont forget guys, the profit is not in the razor but in the blades. Dealers dont make enough money on the car, so try to get it all back on the maintenance. Check in your manual there is a factory list of service items follow this list and leave the fluff alone
