Tail Pipe question, Need Help!!

On my G35 Sedan, I noticed when I started the car in the morning that their was white vapor smoke coming out ( very normal when the car is cold) but it was only coming out form one of the pipes (i put my hand to verify and nothing on the second pipe). After it got the car warmed up I checked again by putting my hand neear the pipes, I could not feel any flow on one pipe and the other had good flow. The pipe that is not flowing is the one towards the middle of car.

Any idea what this could be? The pipe does not looked blocked from looking into it.
Help? Is it a good idea to drive like this, Any bad effects?

It's what Infiniti calls their 'Variable Capacity Muffler' or somesuch. The other pipe opens up at higher RPM. I think it results in better torque and less noise at low RPM .

Really???

I noticed that the pipe that is always open is darker than the one that opens soemtimes assuming its like this for a while or what you are saying then it is like this sicne the beginning : )

I called in the dealer he is saying that it only opens when you drive.
Just surpised no one noticed it or maybe everyone knows and i don't : )

Thanks Gordon! I always thougt the second pipe (passenger side) was there for looks only. Your explanation makes sense. Is there someplace I could reference this feature?

Obsidian/Graphite; Premium Pkg; Aero Kit; Suspension Kit; Nav Sys; Sunroof; Clear side markers. Next...GroundingGear

I think there is some cusory mention about it in the Brochure, but it doesn't go into any detail from what I remember. Someone else may know more details about RPM, etc?

Re: Tail Pipe question, Need Help!!

i belive the second tip opens up around 3500-4000rpm range. on the infiniti site it mentions the muffler but does not go into much detail on it.

"A pressure valve automatically opens the exhaust flow wide at higher rpm to boost high-end power output and gives the G35 Sport Sedan the growl of a hot rod. When rpm is reduced, as during idle, the valve adjusts to hush the muffler to nothing more than a soothing hum."
