OK- Ready to be ridiculed

I did the little clutch fix with plastic discs, etc. and I really like it. But here is the interesting thing. My mileage is now better. I always check what my mileage is by seeing how many miles I get with a fill up by setting the trip meter and dividing by the number of gallons I use. I usually get about 17-17.5 mpg over a whole tank, driving pretty much the same every week. Now I consistently get over 18. I am pretty sure this is a real difference. The only thing I can think of is that my shifting is more efficient and I don't overrev a little like I maybe did with each shift before with the awkward clutch position.

Doesnt seem to make any logical sense. There are a lot of factors that go into mileage that going from upper 17's to low 18's per gallon is such a small increase that I would say give it a few more weeks and keep monitoring the car. Where did you get the clutch fix plastic discs? I havent heard of that yet.

not to thread jack (it somewhat correlates) do you guys believe in the STP additives like the gas saver, or octane booster?

i recently added the octane booster (7bucks! ack!) to my full tank of gas, and it may just be in my head; but, i've felt a little bit more "pep" in the step even when not gassing it as much. You guys think it'll help w/ the gas problem too?

I thought of that but this actually happened over the month of August and September. If anything it has been hotter here after I did the clutch. It is more fun to drive anyway.

Hmm

I can't see how this would help that much unless the reduction in revs while taking off and shifting helps to that extreme. Regardless it's great to hear your good news.

This is where my extra mileage per tank was coming from. I thought I was getting better gas mileage but it is because I haven't been using my A/C as much, now that it's cooling down.

If you bothered to look, you would see that I joined this forum two months after you did. Thanks for the welcome anyway. BTW, what about my post is not logical?

LOL

I think this was a good thread and had some good info. Plus I feel like my initial guess was right.
