05/06 sedan exhaust note sounds SO MUCH better than stock 03/04's...

Coming from:

stock ->
stillen catback ->
coupe middy + cats ->
stock cats + coupe middy + HKS rear ->
stock cats + 05/06 sedan middy + HKS rear ->
stock cats + 05/06 sedan middy + 05/06 rear section ->
cats + 05/06 sedan middy + 05/06 rear section!

i like the way it is now!

I will get a sound clip sometime this weekend.

I started with Kinetix HFC and am currently using Berk's metallic HFC. You can learn more about them on My350z.com

The mod bug =)
I liked all of the setups that I had; maybe except the stillen since it was a bit too much droning for a daily driver. (it wasn't my daily driver back then)

Hmmmm...

I just bought an 05 G35X and my exhaust noise is similar and have been wondering if it's normal. Any time I step on the gas the exhaust noise is quite evident and I'm almost afraid the engine is straining.

Just like your clip... there's hint of rumble/vibration. I'm going to have the dealer check it out.

I now understand why the Lexus have exhaust that sounds nothing.. even on the IS ... because people associate a nice exhaust rumble as problems

Is the muffler different ?

I put on a coupe midpipe and my car is still quiet as hell. Only difference is it is pretty deep and more audible at idle.

trouble is there's a hint of "hole in the muffler" sound. I'm old enough to have driven cars from the 70s and I know this rust bucket sound very well.

well I hope you didnt buy a rust bucket then...

try looking underneath and seeing if theres any damage to the muffler from rust or something else
