stuck passenger seat belt

I bought a 04 G35x prem two weeks ago. The front passenger seat belt worked until today. It will not retract and is stuck in the down position. It will only move about half an inch. Any thoughts?

Thanks

Hey! You posted this same question on Edmunds. Here's my same answer:

Sounds like the kind of thing they sell the car with a bumper-to-bumper warranty for. Call your dealer and schedule an appointment.

Re: stuck passenger seat belt

I was hoping that someone could relate something to me tonight regarding a possible simple solution (something constructive) before I called the dealership tomorrow. Not everyone reads both forums!

Re: stuck passenger seat belt

I know not everyone is on both boards, sorry.. didn't mean for it to sound harsh. I imagine you've tried yanking on the belt a bit... if that doesn't work, then there's probably something wrong with the retractor. Being safety equipment, I wouldn't consider a seatbelt as a user-serviceable item, anyway. It's been my experience that when self-retracting belts/cords of any kind get stuck in that last half-inch space, they're toast and need to be replaced.

I bought an '01 Expedition last year, and later found out when I tried to put a childseat in it, that the 2nd row center seatbelt latch wouldn't latch. The dealership actually had that part in stock and got it fixed quickly. They didn't provide a loaner like Infiniti does, though.

Hope you get it resolved quickly.

Damn, no loaner from Ford? LOL! You know, the one dealer here had a thing called a TAP rental, you could get a rental car for just paying the tax, $4 a day, that wasn't bad, the other one I dealt with, always gave me a car off the lot, but, I had connections there!
