if its the AT shift ****..its really easy..
pull down the thing at the bottom of the handle.. then there is a clip.. unclip it (facing the radio) then the **** comes off.

cover every dash piece near the **** with cloth, towels, etc.
wrap a cloth around the base of the **** with many, many layers. stick some smooth jawed vice grips, slip joint pliers or a large crescent on there.
apply a moderate amount of gorilla torque and twist counter clockwise.
It comes off but is very hard
