Angry Power Seat on Drivers side!!

Hi, I want to purchase a 2003 G35 Sedan with 49,000 miles for $15000. However, the driver's seat does not go forward nor backwards. The dealer wants me to pay them $500 for them to fix the problem. All the other buttons on the drivers seat work, but not the forward and backwards one. Is this something I can fix myself? I'm willing to take the seat apart and replace the part!!

For that price, I would just pay them. But thats me. Not worth messing it up and paying $500+.
Thanks!

It could be a variety of things ranging from the switch to the motor. Your going to need to test the components to find out what's wrong. Plus I'm sure you can get another used working seat for less than $500, if it has to come down to that...

Also why don't you try to work that into the deal? You haven't bought the car and they need to sell it, so I don't see why you can't get them to fix it before you buy...pretty sure that they are going to lose out on a lot more than the "$500" it would cost to fix it if no one bought the car over a seat problem...

You may just need the seat switch.. they go out ALL the time..

DROP me your VIN number in a PM and I will get you price on the part (Will be almost half what your local dealer is charging for it I bet)

drivers side power seat

Here is the VIN: JNKCV51E83M011362

Is it true about the G35 consuming oil? I read a lot of reviews yesterday that if you beat on the car they burn the oil!

If you haven't bought it yet, see if they'll work it into the deal. Let them know you're not buying the car unless the seat works. If they don't budge, walk away. This isn't the only G35 out there....

more for the '05-'06 Gs, not necessarily '03s and '04s although there may be a few in that year with the oil consumption problem.

I did walk away. The dealership would not budge, they told me to either purchase the vehicle as is, or I can pay for the repairs. Would a 2003 with 49000 miles still have powertrain warranty?

Actually, I believe powertrain warranty is 72/70,000 so it should still have powertrain coverage.

If you ask the service department to run the VIN, they can give you a service history and exact expiration of warranty date...

(this is at an INFINITI Dealer that is)

If you buy it, and need a new seat, I got a sexy 07 seat you can put in the car!
