Brakes Wtf?

Yes, it was 25 degrees this morning. But why in the world is the "SLIP", "VDC", and Parking "Brake" light on in the Dash? My Manufacturers Warranty just ran out and I hope this is not the "beginning of the end", because I really love this car. It's about 700 miles overdue for an oil change, could that possibly be the culprit? I was actually scheduled for an Oil change today with Nissan, is there something I should have them check for? Thanks in advance for your comments and suggestions.

might need to add brake fluid. That is what happened to me. Also use the search function, it helped me when this happened.

Your brake pads are seriously worn. Trust on this. Get the pads replaced and the lights will go off.

Could be the brakes and it might be the throttle body. Did the lights stay on after the car was warm and you restarted it?

its the brakes..i had the same problem last week where all my lights were on, on the dash....once i removed my front brake pads i noticed they were toasted to the extreme..i mean no pad left on them at all. Once i put a fresh set on...boom...no more lights...

The way that works is the brake fluid level goes down as the pads wear. Once you fluid gets low the lights will come on. It is also a warning for other things so it might not be your brakes but that's the most common reason.

what if those lights come on but go off after the car is turned off ? Saw that happen recently on my girls X. Thought it was a glitch, or fluke.

Pads on the way out ? She is getting a lot of brake dust on the fronts.

Can I just throw some hawk pads in there and call it a day ?

^ it could possibly be the brakes on the g35x as they use the same fast wearing pads as the 03-04 RWD..The hawks seem to be the way to go as far as low brake dust..good life and excellent performance at moderate to high speeds. I personally plan on getting a BBK from Brembo as soon as i move into my new pad. If you don't like the brakes you have try to find a wrecked track 350z or 6MT g-coupe and get the brembos off of it.

A whole hearted thanks to everyone's insight. I took her in for oil change and they said that I need new brakess. I knew I needed new Brakes due to the sounds, but I didn't think those various lights will light up as a result. I will be replacing the Breaks next week. Any ideas on good breaks? I was thinking about doing a Midas Life-time Brakes.

noooo get nicer brakes online. i suggest drilled and slotted, they work great and look nice too. Brakes are alot cheaper if you buy online as opposed to buying from midas or the dealership. be sure to get Hawk pad becuase they make alot less dust and they work well

Just got my Hawk pads from Tire Rack and found an installer. Anything I should tell them that they might neglect to do?

I saw this thread too late...I was going to tell you to go with the Endless Vita Nuova pads. I ran the Hawk pads and I was very unhappy with them. The pads squealed a lot when hot (after regular street driving). This occurred even after I bedded them properly. Also, the initial cold bite sucked major! I felt more confident using OEM pads than I did the Hawks.

I would recommend that you get the Endless pads if you have the extra money to spare. I've had them on for about three weeks now and I can tell you they are leaps and bounds over the Hawks, but you get what you pay for.

If you decide to keep the Hawks, make sure you take the shims off of your old pads and tuck them away b/c you will need them later when you want different pads than the Hawks

If you decide to go with the Endless pads, talk to Eddie Takahasi from www.mynismo.com. He is a good guy to work with and shipped my pads out fast!
