engine noise/vibration?
engine noise/vibration?
I have a 05 g35x with 38k miles, my car has slight engine noise and vibration when the car is idling or stopped. Is it just my car or do you guys notice the same thing? I know most car will have slight vibration after time but its an infiniti. My friend has a 04 lexus rx330 with 56k miles and his car has no engine noise or vibration. Do you guys think i might have a problem with my engine or is this normal? or i might just be a little paranoid.. lol..
Can you begin to describe the details of the noise in your engine? Could be a few things (e.g. whining or slight squealing noise could be that your serpentine or accessory belts are not tightened or dried out). I'm not sure about the vibration part since I never encountered that in any of my cars (not even my 10-yr old Corolla LOL).
You should probably take it to the dealer to have it looked at. I'm sort of in the same boat. This is my second G35. I dropped my car off at the dealership mid last week to perform some TSBs for door panel rattles.. etc.. I also asked them to check out the idle, which struck me a little rough.. Not very, but noticeable, as compared to my last G. The first phone call I got, I was told that everything was fine, everything was according to Infiniti specs. They did say that they noticed it was a bit rough though, so they asked permission to hold on to it for another day to dig a little further into this..
Day 2, I get a phone call from the dealership, now I was told that they are on the phone with Infiniti to determine whether I'm getting a new engine. There appears to be a problem with one of the cylinders. They suspect a possible bent rod. As it currently stands, they are expecting a new long block to arrive on Tuesday, and hopefully I'm getting the car back on Wednesday.
Very strange though, aside from a slightly rough idle, I had no indication of a problem.
With all this being said, I'd definitely take yours in to the dealership to have it looked at.

While the car is in drive and stopped at a red light, there may be a slight vibration coming from the automatic transmission if incorrect fluid was used for a transmission flush or drain and refill. Was you transmission serviced recently? Make sure Nissan J-Matic fluid is always used. There are a few substitutes that fit the spec but I would personally not risk it on my vehicle.
