If its not the fuel senders or the shutter valve, it could also be the actual gauges themselves. There was one guy on InfinitiFX.org than had his gauges replaced by the dealer after all other fixes failed.

It can even be different pumps in the same gas station. I have a Shell down the street that has 12 pumps and 2 of them do this to me. They also did it to my Jeep Liberty when I had that. So, I'm not blaming the car, just the crappy pumps.

had similar problem with my '07 coupe, last week told the guy to fill premium, pump stopped and only got a half tank of gas. just got gas today, told 'em to fill it and i watched the pump and it pumped a full tank, hopefully it was only a minor glitch, gonna keep my eyes open from now on to see if it happens again

I just started having this problem, and I've been filling up at literally the same pump for months. No matter if I overflow it it never reads full. And it seems it's not getting right full, because I don't get as far on a tank of fuel. I may have to run it nearly dry and see if it holds anywhere near its 76 litre capacity. I tried positioning the nozzle partway/all the way in, no difference.

Anybody know the cost to fix this? I will probably just put up with it, but I'm curious.

I am also suffering from this annoying problem on my 05 G35 Sport. I have found if I drive it until it is almost empty and then fill it up, it will read correctly for a couple of fillups. I have had both the sensors replaced in the tank under warranty.

When it starts this nonsense the gauge will not go above full even if I fill till it overflows. Also the low fuel light comes when I have at least 100 miles left in the tank (~4-5 gals). Running it down until there is just a couple of gallons left seems to staighten it out for a couple of fill ups.

I will be bitching back at the dealer about it.

I have this problem too. I just have to keep track of how many miles I go on each fill up to estimate when to fill up again. It is kinda annoying.
