Front Bumper repainted, now peeling

Hey Guys,

Back in February, 9 months ago, I had my front bumper replaced and painted IP. About 2 weeks ago I noticed the paint peeling on the inside of the driver's side wheel well. Just this past weekend while washing my G, the same thing is now happening on the passenger side. I'm going to the shop today to talk to the owner. He was actually very accomodating, "come on down and we'll take a look". I fear that once I get there he is going to change his tune ie "not out problem"

My question is, has anyone else had this problem? and should the shop repaint the bumper free of charge? I just want to know how much of a stink I should make if they try and give me a hard time about fixing.

EJ

Looks to be an adhesion/prep problem. Not sure if they would be willing to fix it or not. I'll assume because you have a pearl color, they would have to respray the entire bumper. If the peeling starts extending to the outside of the fenderwell then that should warrant a paintjob.

Peeling in under a year....I would ask for it to get re-sprayed for free.

It was a brand new oem bumper. I was hit and the bumper had to be replaced.

Assuming the bumper shows no signs of damage, I think the shop will repaint it for you. Like Jeff said, it sounds like there was a prep issue with the bumper. Chances are they did not clean the bumper adequately and didn't remove all the mold release agents.

+1 with the diagnosis. A good shop concerned with customers and their reputation would definitely redo it.

They should take care of it with no question. Every shop I know gives at least a year warranty on paint. Some will do as long as you own your car.

Good New Guys!!

They're respraying the whole bumper on Monday.

They gave me no problems what so ever. They took one look and told me to bring it down on Monday.

Thanks for the advise though, I wanted to be prepared for the worst
