Thanks guys. I wish I had documented this better while I was doing it. If anyone wants to do this and has any questions, just let me know and I'll try to help you out.

Sweet job! For this part from "everything infiniti", does it include the ****, or is it just the chrome plate and leather boot?

Do you think you could just run it with the new **** and leather boot with the old base plate?

That part on EverythingInfiniti.Com is just the chrome shifter plate and the 'leather' boot (basically it all fits together as one piece). You would need to purchase the shift **** seperately.

If purchasing the newer shift **** (with button on the front), I need to clarify that you have to purchase the new shift adaptor that goes underneath the shift ****. This is the part under the **** that gets pushed down so you can change gears. The original one on the 03-04 is white, the newer one for the new shift **** is blue. They are designed differently, and you need the new one for the new shift ****. It costs about $15. Jason at Riverside made sure to include it when I ordered my new shift ****.

No. The way the new chrome plate and leather boot fit together, it wouldn't work with the old shift plate. The leather boot is attached to a piece that fits underneath the chrome plate, and then the leather boot comes up through the middle. Therefore it wouldn't work because 1) the piece underneath (with the boot attached) and the chrome shifter are designed to snap/fit together; It won't snap together with the old shift plate. 2) The new leather boot won't fit through the small opening of the old shift plate. The chrome plate has a larger opening designed for the boot, including the gear indicators. You have to use the new chrome shift plate with the new leather boot.

Someone else just asked me if it would work if they wanted to use the original shift **** with the new shifter plate. I'm 90% certain the new leather boot would snap onto the bottom of the old shift **** with no modifications. The reason I needed to do all that chopping was because 1) the new shift **** needed to be cut up because the mounting points were different, and 2) because I had to use a screw to hold the shift **** in place, I had to cut up the top of the shift boot to fit the ****. So if you use the old shift **** with the new chrome shift plate and boot, that should eliminate about 3 hours of trouble for everyone. (I still think its worth the money and time to install the new shift **** with the button on the front. Makes the car feel more like a manual.)

Honestly bro, I have no clue who would do that for you. I would probably charge $150 plus parts.....if I were doing them.
