i dont mean to be a d*** but I think it looks off, the boot looks like it does not belong on that shifter and the interior color does not match the chrome. Kinda looks like a giant pen@@. Great work glad it works for you

Hmm, interesting that you would equate it to a pen*s. I might have chosen a different object, but to each his own. Since this shift **** and shift boot are what they've been puting in all 06-08 FXs, I tend to think they go well together. Lots of others (3 pages worth) tend to agree.

I was just stating my .02, he did a great job on it and spent some time doing it, but in my opinion it looks terrible thats all. To me it really has no upgraded functionallity or looks, what was the point of doing it. No direspect OP

I sorta see what you mean (except the pen** part ), IMO the chrome of the plate doesn't necessarily complement the flatter finish of the console. OP, I admire the hell out of your persistence, and I do like the super-clean install, but I might have left the console black and had a nice contrast between the shifter plate and console. Not a criticism whatsoever, just my taste; I have an 03 Sport so I really appreciate the how-to article, thanks for taking the time to post.

No problem. I understand that not everyone will think the chrome goes with the interior, but I personally like it. I think it adds some "luxury" to the normally bland interior of the 03 G35. And like I said before, take a look at the interior of the 06-08 FX; the only chrome items in the FX are the shifter panel and the door handles. This is what I was sorta modeling my G after (the picture below has an aftermarket shift ****).

If I wasn't so damn lazy I'd do it too. I've had enough fun taking apart the dash during my stereo install to last me the time I'll be owning the car.

Looks great, you have much more patience than I do.

Btw, I wouldn't call that shifter an '05/06 shifter. I think they started it with the 04.5 lineup. That's the one I have as well.

Seems like it looks a lot better than the one you started with though. Nicely done.

Ah. Ok. I was just about to post that I have that **** already, but no boot. So it must be an 04.5 change.

Bump. I made a few revisions to the original post and added the parts list, since I've been getting questions about this recently.

Happy modding.
