Exhaust Question
Exhaust Question
stock 2003 Sedan with doggy door
130 000Km (about 75 000Mi)
Before I get into my G I start it remotely, so today as I was walking towards it I noticed smoke only coming out of one of the exhausts.
On the sedans as you know there is one exhaust but two tips like so (oo)
Its close to freezing outside so its not unusual to see the exhaust smoke but the thing Im wondering about is that it was only visible coming out of the left exhaust tip.
Ive hit the bottom before on uneven road surfaces but not hard enough that I did major damage to the exhaust piping, maybe just a small hole.
My question is, does this indicate any problems that should worry me?
I change oil about every 6000km (3500mi roughly) and I use synthetic. Performance wise I feel no loss of power and no unusual sound but I just want to be sure that this is nothing that should concern me.
- thanks in advance

You shouldn't have to worry abt anything
The 03/04 sedan exhaust has a variable flow design through a spring loaded flap in the rear muffler, what it does is to maximize the flow velocity with minimial noise. At low exhaust flow, the flap is closed which means that exhaust will only come out from ONE of the exhaust tips. However, during high exhaust flow, the spring loaded flap will open to allow maximum flow capacity.
Hope this helps

I didn't know about the flap, thats some pretty high tech stuff lol... thanks 4 the info.
