Initial impressions

Got my G35 a few days ago. Car is awesome in many respects - the handling, power, styling, and features. However, the sound insulation seems to be light. I like the exhaust tone but the engine noise overall seems pretty loud. Is this typical of the G35s? I don't recall the tester being this loud. Also, the car squeaks and rattles in places - it comes and goes. Has this been your experience?

Re: Initial impressions

Most all of your issues are normal. The squeaks and rattles can be fixed by the dealer. They have thhe TSBs just tell them where the noise is. The engine being louder may simply be the fact that the exhaust system has no been coated in hot gases yet and it still resonates a bit. It will calm down after about 800 miles. Don't woory you are not the first with these issues.

Re: Initial impressions

Thanks, IQ9. That's comforting to hear. I'm taking it to the dealer on Monday. It just bums me out b/c the squeaks and rattles are some of the reasons why I sold my 99 Maxima to buy my G35x. It seems to be coming just from the rear window by the Bose subwoofer or the brakelight. It's worse in early morning. Anyway, I'm liking the car more everyday. I find you have to drive it hard to appreciate it. I am thinking maybe I should get a radar detector now. Is the Valentine still the best? Does anyone think the Escort 8500 or others are better? Thanks.

Re: Initial impressions

Mine is being fixed for the rear deck rattle now. There is a TSB for this and the dealer should accomodate you without hassle in 1 day. Check your doors as well as there are TSB's for those as well.

Re: Initial impressions

The one that drives me is the lack of sound insulation. In the rain it sounds like my back windows are open.
