NOTE: The exhaust sounds lower frequency when cruising around in gear. This is in Neutral. It sounds better when driving in gear.

I think I will get my other plastic computer mic and tape it to the bumper with a computer in the trunk to record driving around.

In this clip... i start, let idle for a second (its cold out) then I smoothly rev to about 4k.. then i rev a couple times fast, push -- push... and then idle again.

My idle in this clip is above 1k rpm still... in gear and warm it is lower and more gurgley

Thanks for the clip.

Did you have the windows up when you recorded inside your car? I would like to hear one while its driving with windows up, if possible.

Thanks for the clips. I heard having a manual you can keep the droning down thats why I wanted someone to post with an automatic.

That clip was recorded from right near the muffler, not inside the car.

It doesnt sound that loud inside. It is so hard to explain sound. When actually driving, most of the time its a nice low grumble. Its not raspy or annoying even at 3k constant rpm on the hwy.

Jeff, I found a picture of my Gen 1 Exhaust laying on the ground put together the way it mounts, did you still want that? I can put it up tonight.

I also have some clips of me at MSR or autox and you can hear inside the car with the gen1.

If anybody is interested....

I have a Stillen Gen2 that was custom modded w/ true dual exhaust and test pipes basicaly to get rid of the back pressure. Little too loud for me as i use car to see to go see clients....it now sounds like Gen1 (tad bit louder) but its the drone that i dont like.

Just got this same system 2 weeks ago,I was worried about the "droneing" too.All I can say is,just got back from 400mi trip with wife&kids, windows up the whole way,and she didnt mention anything about the car being loud.Well,at least till we got into town, windows dropped, and I got on it at each stop light! Very happy with system,in fact,I wouldnt mind if it was a little louder....Now the only problem is I ran over a plastic bucket on the freeway, before I could pull over and remove it,the bucket melted to the crossover pipe. Buckets gone, but I got a chunk of plastic that stinks up the car everytime the pipe gets hot!

Mine with vortech, my daughter complaining about the loudness. Not really, pretty tame compared to others.

Gen 1 FTW. When I called mine the guy at Stillen said they don't make them anymore though. I got a nice discount on mine because it was on a customers car and they took it off for being too loud.(was still in like new condition)...kinda false advertising that they still have it up on their site though

I've got a gen1 and i dont have droning issues cruising at 1900-2800 rpm. Thats about 55-65+ mph, but when I open it up going 75-80+ it is very audible but tame drone. I would say that it is bearable even at higher rpms.

Note: I drive a 03 auto

Gen2 from what I hear is quieter. I beleive they made changes to the resonators to decrease the tone and drone of the exhaust.

I think that was the change. The overall design is about the same. The difference is in the resonators, and possibly the muffler.
