Heated Seats

Night before last I switched my seat heaters up to HIGH but it came on LOW. Tried it again tongiht and the same thing happened.

I checked the owners manual thinking maybe a fuse had blown but it doesn't list what each fuse is for. Does anybody know if there is a separate fuse for the LOW and HIGH settings on the seat and if so which fuses those are?

I saw a TSB on the 03 coupe seats but couldn't find anything on the 04 sedans.

Re: Heated Seats

How can you tell they’re on Low and not high? On my G the same light lights up for both.

Re: Heated Seats

The heated seats only have light which always lights up the "Low" setting regardless of which side of the swirch you press. If you pressed the high setting it's on high, ignore the light.

Re: Heated Seats

???????? Either I'm stupid or all you guys are smokin' something

Man, I coulda sworn the upper part of the switch where the white stripe lit up when you pushed the switch up to the HIGH position. Maybe I'm thinking of the Impalla SS the dealer let me take home before I decided on the G. Or maybe that's just the way my brain says it SHOULD work!

I guess that's what working night shift does to your brain. Never know what day of the week it is and can't remember how to drive your own car. Getta play lots of golf though!!! Going to be 62 today, and I'm on my way to the course right now!!!

Re: Heated Seats

RocketsRedGlare, I know what you’re talking about, there is a white stripe (or something like that) that looks like it will light up by the high side, but it doesn’t.

Let’s see how well I’ve paid attention to the heated seats button…I think that there’s a thick line on the high side of the switch and a thin line by the low side, but I think it’s only there as way of telling which side is hotter. But I know for sure that the light illuminates the same whether it’s on high or low. I may be wrong about the stripes, I can tell you the location of every rock chip on the exterior of my car, but I’m not as observant with the interior.

Bottom line, if it feels hotter when it’s on high, then it’s probably working.

Re: Heated Seats

I don't think of the settings as "low and high" so much as "hot and AAAH!"

Either way, it takes a good 5-10 minutes to start feeling any heat.. high doesn't get hot any faster, it just doesn't stop getting hotter before my tolerance wears out.

Re: Heated Seats

Rocket, here's what the manual says:

The front seats are warmed by built-in heaters. The switches located on the center console can be operated independently of each other.
1. Start the engine.
2. Select heat range.
O For low heat, press the (Low) [towards the back of the car] side of the switch.
O For high heat, press the (High) [towards the front of the car] side of the switch.
O For no heat, the switch has a center OFF position between low and high.
The indicator light in the switch will illuminate when low or high is selected. The heater is controlled by a thermostat, automatically turning the heater on and off. The indicator light will remain on as long as the switch is on.
3. When the vehicle’s interior is warmed, or before you leave the vehicle, be sure to turn the switch to the off position (center).
