I usually listen to MP3s in my 2005 G35X but this morning I had the radio on on the way to work. I forgot to garage the car last night so the rear window was frosted over. I turned on the defroster and the FM went to all static... WTF???

 

nothing weird about that. the antenna is imbedded in the rear window, so an electrical current running near it will throw off reception.

 

Well, that explanation is plausible given that the defroster wires are very close to the FM antenna wires in the rear glass. BUT, the behavior is not NORMAL or acceptible. Unless you were tuned to a very weak FM station, there shouldn't be any interference. If the problem persists, I would explore warranty service.

 

I have never noticed radio operation affected by the defroster! I suspect a warranty issue here.

 

I had that EXACT same problem. Take it to the dealer--it's not normal. It's a malfunction with the antenna. They will need to replace the entire rear windshield. It's covered under warranty.

 

I had the exact same problem with my coupe. The dealer needs to replace the back windshield....

 

metallic tints can also throw off reception!
