Yeah I'm in Boston, and right now it's wicked cold and theres a ton of snow, no one wants to work on cars, or stand outside lookign at them, we take our expensive rims off for 4 months, drive on winter tires, and pray to god a snow plow doesn't anialate our cars.
Not to mention all the salt eating away the your undercarriage, the ice you have to scrape off you windows, and the wipers you have to switch after a heavy storm.
YOU CALI GUYS GOT IT MADE!!

You guessed it - I'm from Cali, not bahhhhhston....
young man i sincerely hope you're kidding. i love it out here in cali, but it comes nowhere near the east coast when it comes to educational institutions, PUBLIC art & architecture, and multiculturalism. btw, much of the technology behind the cars, missiles, and aircraft that are manufactured in cali was developed out east (Boston/Cambridge, in particular).

btw, i'm still sticking with my earlier point that the car scene is bigger here cause cali chicks dig guys in cool cars

Cali is auto oriented. I use to not like Cali at all. I say go there one time and you too will be converted, I was in 1 day. I would gladly move to Cali, great weather, surfing, skiing, etc., super high cost of living though, but still one beautiful state, only second to Hawaii....

Im in CT, and i think its weather related.

Sucks paying 4k for rims and having to take them off for 4 months during , plus lips and body kits don't do well in the snow.
Also after winter the roads have **** loads of pot holes and etc... Just sucks.

But the plus side is i can keep beer in my trunk without worryin about it goin bad in the winter time!

This is like asking why the northeast is not as Crazy about College Football or Nascar when the South is. The automobile is simply more ingrained in the West Coast culture/attitude/lifestyle... vs the East.

The southwest in particular the better weather allows more options in a year round car vs the Northeast. While I have a G35X, my first choice would had been a 6MT sedan. The upstate NY weather simply does not permit me to drive performance (rear wheel drive) vehicles year round. My first performance car was a BMW 325i... as great it was in dry weather, I had to drive around for 4~5months/year with snows on all 4 corners + 2x 50lb bags of sand in the trunk... Not much fun.

The better weather also allows for better maintained roads + highways. A visit to the Northeast during pothole season would make one think twice about expensive rims + lowering kits.
