1st Impressions of the 6MT Sedan
Ok, i just got done test driving a 6mt sedan. One of the first things I've noticed over the 3 automatic sedan's I drove several months ago, is that there is no rattles, the car seems real tight. When I drove the automatics, it seemed all 3 of them had some rattles (either from the dash or by the rear speakers) but it looks like they have fixed that prob.
2nd Thing I noticed is the gear shifter is a tad on the notchy side, not bad or anything, but noticable. Also the shifter is set back just a tad to far for my personal tastes, but it didn't take to long for me to get used to it.
Since this was the 6mt it has the sport suspension, to me the ride is noticeably stiffer then the automatic sedan with normal suspension. This is a big plus for those who like to drive aggresive, it seems to me the sport suspension has a little bit less body roll then the normal suspension.
One thing that did annoy me was when I took off real fast from 1st (didnt drop the clutch because wanted to be easy on the new engine) anyways I took it redline and shifted and the wheels started to chirp when all of a sudden I had no power, I literally flew forward from loss of power (good thing I had seatbelt on). At first I thought I shifted into 4th by accident or something, but then I saw a light on the dash flashing *SLIP*, so I assume the tranction control sensed the wheel slippage and killed the fuel line (although it felt like it applied the brakes). So if you like to accelerate aggresively I highly suggest you disable the traction control.
Overall this car is nothing short of awesome. The next two weeks are going to seem like forever as I wait for my new G35.
Oh yea, for those who test drive it for the first time, here's a tip, in order to go into reverse, you have to push straight down on the shifter then move it to the proper gate while pushing down on the shifter. The salesmen neglected to tell me this when I took for a test drive. I looked like a idiot trying to backup and keep moving forward because it keept going into 6th gear instead of reverse because I wasint pushing down on it.

Re: 1st Impressions of the 6MT Sedan
I just picked up my 6MT last night. I have to say that the clutch takes some getting used to (I have tendonitis in my left ankle... ouch!) and I am used to driving a 5-speed.... The extra gear takes some getting used to. I also have to agree that the shifter feels a bit "notchy".
On another note, the sports suspension is nice. On my test drive in the auto trans. I had a non-sports suspension car. The sports suspension is much tighter.

Re: 1st Impressions of the 6MT Sedan
Dan,
Thanks for the heads up. Good review. I plan on purchasing the 6MT sedan when it arrives here in my neck of the woods on March 19.
One further question pertaining to highway driving and sixth gear:
What rpm is the engine running at 75mph in sixth gear? Also, do you feel like the car accelerates adequately while travelling in sixth gear at 70mph+? Obviously I'm not talking about racing where a downshift would be a given.
Finally, how are the throws on the shifter. I drove a Max SE 6MT and felt that the throws on the shifter were al ittle long for my taste. I don't want to say truck like, but it was more like the shifter in an old Ford Escort than say a Honda Prelude or Integra (two cars with excellent shift feel and short throws).
The last question is really subjective, but at this point any concrete info I can get on this car is good. Lagniappe as we say in Louisiana.
Thanks,
G_Love

Re: 1st Impressions of the 6MT Sedan
I didn't take it on the highway, so I can't comment on the 6th gear yet. When I get my car in a few weeks i'll let you know.
My previous car was a 5 speed 2000 Prelude so I can compare the G35 shifter to the Prelude. The throws on the G35 sedan are about the same as the prelude, maybe even a tad shorter, so if you like short throws you'll love the G35. But I have to say the prelude shifting is quite a bit smoother then the G35, the G35 is somewhat notchy feeling, but its nothing that will annoy you or anything. I got used to it fairly quick.
