If the stability control malfunctioned due to a bad abs sensor or steering wheel position sensor, it could lock one of your brakes causing your car to veer as you described. See if the dealer can pull any codes.

Different SIZE tires would make a difference, not different brands.

IMHO diff brands might have an effect on the handling if they were spec'd quite a bit diferently. And if they were different in the amount of wear they had, again, could have been the diff. It's well known that you replace AWD tires all at once. Not by 2s.

This is when you have to be the most cautious. A heavy down pour will wash all the crap off of the road. A light drizzle will bring oil to the surface of the road cause it to be really slippery. Also with your tires being different, to me that means someone only replaced 2 tires and the other 2 needed to be replaced. Since the car was certified, I would have the tread measured and raise some h3ll at the dealership.

Good luck with your situation.

I'm sorry to hear about your crash, but it's not that serious. You didn't even break the plastic headlight or tail light lenses. These cars don't have frames to bend either. There are front and rear subframes where the suspension mounts to the car, and those could be bent.

The minimal damage would also explain why the air bags didn't deploy. The sensors didn't detect wnough of an impact to deploy them, which is a good thing.

Check the tire sizes and make sure they aren't different.

The AWD isn't constant AWD. At highway speeds, all of the power is delivered to the rear wheels.

Get it fixed and sell it if you aren't comfortable with it.
