What to do with random $3k
What to do with random $3k
I know this is answered a thousand times over, but I've got about $3k that happened into my lap (Love Vegas), and I'm going to put it into my car. I already met my savings and investment quotas for the year, so it's time to take a little slice of cake for myself... anyone that knows me with some suggestions? I love performance, but I'm not averse to upgrading the looks or putting in something like an Avelecrtonic. Thoughts?

Okay, okay, so I whored myself out for an hour. It was only a $50 charge, but I got a great tip for going above and beyond the call of duty. Regardless...
Any serious recommendations? [img]/w3timages/icons/tongue.gif[/img]

Upgraded audio maybe, or as mentioned before TV's in headrests. New tires if your into performance, or just put the 3k into engine mods. You could get a new intake, z-tube, exhaust, and headers, all installed for 3k.

Re: What to do with random $3k
it depends on what you want. performance or looks/creature comforts.
I am all for performance, andif I were to do it all over again (and I have done A LOT), I would save that $3K and hope for another lucky day in Vegas (or save) to the tune of another $3-4K and go with an FI setup. It will put a smile on your face every time you hit the throttle.
Otherwise, rims, audio, etc. It's up to you. To me - it's a waste of money.

Thanks, gurgen. I'm a fan of performance, however I already have a wide smile on my face every time I hit the throttle. Creature comforts don't hurt, as in this city, they're far more practical. The G isn't going to be my "performance" car... it's my daily driver, but I want it to be as fun as it can be as well. Six of one, half-dozen of the other... hmm.

Re: What to do with random $3k
Hey George:
I'd say either rims, which really changes the look of the car....or
1) Springs ($300 installed) [looks]
2) 350z duct ($50 self install) [growl]
3) AVelectronics Tuner ($1000 installed) [ICE]
4) VSS hack (can be done when tuner is installed) [comfort]
5) GroundingGear ($120 self install) [performance/looks]
6) Crawford Plenum ($395-no core / 595 w-core) [performance]
7) Stillen dual exhaust ($1000) [growl/performance]
my $.02 worth of a good blending of cosmetics and performance.
Have fun! - Ted

Re: What to do with random $3k
Here's some performance mods I would do with 3K IMO...
1. Lightweight wheels with better tires... having good tires is important because you can do all the suspension mods you want but if your tires can't maintain adhesion to the road it's worthless. Also lightweight wheels will remove some unsprung weight and depending on what you get can look good.
2. Sway bar set. A good one will tighten things up on turns and reduce your body roll.
3. Stillen dual exhaust and high flow cats; if your like me and don't want the loudness of Stillen then get a Y-pipe and replace the stock resonator with a Magnaflow resonator.
