Re: round TWO: most modified sedan?

Here is the dyno of Skidazzle's TT (Custom kit - heavy garrett bb turbos). The PE will be expected to spool up a full 1000rpm sooner.

The TT dyno is at 8 psi as far as I remember. As you can see, even these large turbos are very close to stillen on the low end (and the PE are expected to be identical to the Stillen). But now look at the top end. The Stillen SC tq curve falls off VERY rapidly (just liek a stock NA motor does), while the TT stays right up there near its rpm band highs. That's a huge difference, and the portrayal of what I was saying before - exponential growth of the power curve on turbos vs linear growth of the SCs.

Moreover, the stillen SC falls off rapidly on the top end, while the other centrifugal SCs stay A LITTLE stronger. If I HAD TO pick today, I would probably pic stillen over the others - a good package that includes an engine warranty.

But IMO, there is just NO contest between TT's and the superchargers.

Re: round TWO: most modified sedan?

I will have to change my mod list. :-)
Today I met up with some people in Elk Grove CA at a Car Meet, mostly Acura CL-S's. 2 of those CL's were super charged. A couple of 350z's and then a IP G35 Coupe, and my IP Sedan. Well the IP coupe guy was hella cool, (everyone there was hella cool) and had a local tuner shop. I got the hook up with an INJEN intake, and bought his 18" OEM Coupe RIMS. I know some people said there may be issues with the coupe rims being staggered, but I haven't had any problems so far. Man the INJEN is really loud. If you guys are in Sacto and looking for an INJEN intake, he sales them very cheap. Under $240. PM if you want details.

Re: round TWO: most modified sedan?

That dyno on the TT car looks really rough.

He has a lot left in the engine with a better tune if you ask me.

He should not see those huge spikes as you climb the RPM's. Better intake & fuel mgt should smooth that out and actually find a bit more HP.

Is 8psi too much for a stock G35? If those guys at ATI are blowing up motors left and right at 6lbs. Or is it just a terrible case of tuning and detonation???

Cheers. Call me when finals are over.

Re: round TWO: most modified sedan?

I agree

Guess why I am not going with Greddy but the more expensive PE (by at least 1 grand). Those fuel management units are crap IMO. The PE wdoes not use an FMU, just a new fuel pump and a fuel pressure regulator (a static one). The rest is left up to the ECU flash. Governing the engine with the native ECU is the only way to go IMO. You still can't argue with the results very much, a lot of power down low, and only increasing as you go higher. Just wait til my baby is ready.

Gurgen, did you get your torque converter fixed? We missed you at the latest Bay Area meet (3/13).

Re: round TWO: most modified sedan?

Who cares about a $1000 for a much better quality kit. In the long run the guys that run an engine tune that bad will spend 4-5times that to rebuild their motor.

Re: round TWO: most modified sedan?

Andyl - I have the same setup and you won't notice the 5 rwhp gain (if even that), but the sound is something you will notice. I great bargain mod though no matter how you look at it. Also, do the ECU reset as it may help.

Back to topic - any 'contenders' should also post more pics. It would really help to inspire the rest of us. Thanks already to gurgenpb for the excellent info and pics!
