round TWO: most modified sedan?

okay round two... i feel really bad bringing up this topic after frank just passed away.

for hardcore performance, frank definitely had the best car i'd say, greddy tt, tein coilovers, brembo 4pot/4pot, nismo lsd.

for all around though, who has the most modified sedan? i think reza, gurgen, and krg35 are the most modded... any new players or updates?

Re: round TWO: most modified sedan?

I think I can contend:

Injen CAI
Stillen Equal Length Headers
Stillen test pipes
Stillen Cat Back Exhaust
Exedy Hyper Single Plate Clutch
Exedy Lightened Flywheel
Tein S Tech
19" GTR9
3 Screens, Pioneer AVIC Nav.
Diamond Audio Components & Co-Ax
Diamond Audio Subs
04/05/04 Scheduled Install for Stillens Intercooled Supercharger.

Anyone interested in the supercharger, it the best one to buy it will pass carb sometime within the next week or two, then it will be released for the Sedan 3rd week of March, I contacted Infiniti and they are authorized to maintain as a factory warranty, there is a 3 yr/36K mile warranty provided for an extra $356 to add the engine warranty, you blow your motor you get a new one, talk to Andrew at Stillen. I am scheduled to have mines installed the 5 of April.

38 G-Tech Pro Competition Accelerometer

Total: $8500

Not that it's a pissing contest, just full disclosure for everyone to see (in case they wonder).

However, I did take the car from 6.3sec to 5.8sec (0-60mph) and 14.7sec to 13.9sec (1/4 mile). The performance costs are ~$4500, keeping in mind that a lot of the money (about 1500-2000) was spent on what you might call "original research". This includes the T/C swaps (my fault) and the various intake/cats combinations, not to mention 6-7 ECU reflashes (free).

Gurgen

EDIT: Updated the list. Also, the mods are in chronological order.

BTW,

I am not sure that the Stillen is the "one to get". The jury is still out on that one.

Re: round TWO: most modified sedan?

13.9 is not bad. Let me know when you are in LA, I loved to see your car. I ran 13.6 at palmdale.

Now On Stillen
Why is that??? Its the only charger on the market with a 3 year warranty or 36 k miles, and it covers a blown engine, procharger, dreamworks, even greddy won't offer that. you can't beat 386 RWHP at 5.5 PSI, full power and torque at 1800 RPM, no other charger delivers that much torque at such a low RPM. I have had friends that have the ATI and has already blown his motor, did not do any mods, he was told after install, that he can drive the car to the ground at it won't blow. Greddys already blown up nine motors since the release of the twin turbo. Steve Millen 350Z is pushing well over 400 RWHP @ 6.5 PSI. His car is always on the dyno, whenever you by there its sitting there. Plus Stillen non intercooled system is only $3200. All the others say they are carb legal, but from what I understand and I have friends with the Greddy and ATI, Stillen is the only one with the CARB Sticker.

Re: round TWO: most modified sedan?

jaerian,

13.9 at Palmdale? That's corrected time right? A highly modded (Jason's ) 350Z (with all performance parts BUT the Plenum), including 275 wide rear tires ran a 14.4. No 6MT coupe or sedan could NOT run better than 15.0/14.9.

Also keep in mind that mine is an AT, so you have better gear ratios. So I consider my time to be VERY good for an AT. Also, I am doing this on 235, sucky tires!

Here is the MOST important thing. There is NO WAY IN HELL that teh Stillen (or any other SC) runs 386 wheel HP at 5.5 PSI. Read the latest Sport Z magazine SC shootout: Here is the lowdown:

Stillen Stage 3 - 338.2 HP @ 6500 rpm / 302.6 TQ @ 4800.
13.605 @ 106.32 mph w/ 2.330 60' time.

Vortech - 344.8 HP @ 6300 / 298.7 TQ @ 5900
13.475 @ 106.73 mph w/ 2.195 60' time

ATI ProCharger - 353 HP @ 6500 / 300 TQ @ 4800
13.620 @ 107.82 mph w/ 2.445 60' time.

Stock 350Z - 242.9 HP @ 5900 / 239.4 TQ @ 4600
14.352 @ 99.8 mph w/ 2.409 60' time.

That's 338 wheel HP at 7PSI!!! You are probably talkign about crank HP, not Wheel HP. This result is further confirmed by this dyno (attached below) of a stillen SC WITHOUT an intercooler (the intercooler adds 30-40hp, bringing it up to 338 as said above).

The PE TT at 8psi make ~400+rwhp. No SC in the world will EVER make anything close to what turbos make at the same PSI, as the SC will rob the crank to teh tune of about 30-40 HP to drive the blower. I would highly recommend you do a lot more research on SCs before you make a decision. Also, count on spending an additional $1000 on REQUIRED/UGLY hood upgrade.

There so much MORE to say about this, but this is not the palce. Sorry guys, do not maean to hijack the thread. I would gladly talk to you about this if you wish, You can PM me.

Gurgen

Once again the highest peak horsepower and/or highest peak torque numbers are not the whole story.

Re: round TWO: most modified sedan?

I agree completely.

I love the torque curve ont he stillen, is the best by far compared to all the other sc's. Got the magazine today and saw the SC review/shootout for myself. I stand corrected (somewhat) on my previous evaluation of the stillen. The resultrs cannot be argued with. The Stillen SC could however be much better implemented (don't like th whole 7th injector deal or the required hood mod).

If I was going SC I would seriously consider the Dreamworks or the Stillen, but ONLY with a custom ECU tune (if it is at all possible on the Stillen). Otherwise, TT is to me by far the VERY best implementation of an FI system - making a custom tuning within the NATIVE ecu possible.
