I think it's a great time to be buying - particularly here in the Northeast. I've got an '03 Sedan with 33K miles in perfect condition that I've had listed at $15,500 and nobody is biting. I'm going to hold onto it until the spring and try again.

Don't forget to look at the first gen IS300 with the 2JZGE motor (practically bullet proof). If you shop around you can get an early one for under your 15k budget. That leaves money for some mods. You can get a supercharger and put over 300 to the wheels (215hp stock). The only problem is they are smaller than the G35, but about same as a BMW 3 series.

Where do you buy tires?!? Sounds like rape to me...

I spend ~$800 on my 245/35/20 and 275/30/20's each time around. That's Yokohama/Toyo/Falken's not the super cheap ones.

I just drove a G today. It was a 2005 with option A & C with nav, for 15k. Here is the catch, it had 115k miles. The car drove great, tranny shifted smooth, no rattles shakes or vibrations, and everything was in perfect condition. I really liked the car!

What do you guys think of a car like this? Is such high mileage on a 05 a risky purchase or do these G35s last forever (like most Japanese cars)? In the history of my family, we have purchased many high mileage bargains and have yet to regret any of those decisions.

Assuming it passes carfax and a mechanic's inspection would this be a great buy?

Let me know with any advice,

Thanks

Tom

I've got an 03... and I'm at 112k, no problems here... just maintenance (spark plugs, brake fluid flush, power steering fluid flush, etc.)
Some of the 1st gen rev-up motors (05+) did have some oil consumption issues... i would look at some other threads here before making a decision...

A 2005 with that many miles must have spent a lot of time on the highway - the easiest possible condition for the engine and transmission (except "OFF"<G>).

Get the 05 G --- you'll love it

I gotta tell ya....I've had two Maxima SE's. A 2000 and 2001 both with the 5speeds-----but after driving my buddy's G---I was hooked. Sold my 01 Max and picked up a mint 05 6 speed G while searching the web in Arizona. All said and done it cost me only $21K for a sweet ride. Car is white, came with 20" Koenig rims, Stillen phase 2 exhaust, two 10" boxed subs and satellite radio and body kit. Absolutely mint-only had 30K on it. Got the deal of lifetime based on the prices for a similar car in Canada I nearly pocketed 10 grand--I haven't regretted it all---one of the nicest cars I've owned

Are you suggesting that even though there are ample 03 G35s on auto trader in the 12-15k range, they might not be very good, and cost me a lot of money in the long run? I am looking at the 05 Gs and there seems to be a pretty decent selection of them in the ~20k range. 20k is more then I want to spend, but I can swing it if the 05+ Gs are much better then the 03-04s.

Thanks,

Tom
I have my 03 Infiniti g35 Sedan for a while now. Have 65K on it only thing that has gone wrong is a blown strut that I bought for 25 bucks off this site and replaced myself. Tires for me were about 500 -600 Yoko's If you were big into fixing your Jeep on your own, you will have no problems with the G. I do my own maintenance in which it saves me money and this forum is amazing for insight. Have the car inspected by a qualified mechanic. Even a brand spanking new car can be trouble. Granted warranty covers but still not what you want in a new car. So good luck shopping! Maybe look for soemthing with a little warranty left just to be safe. I have a Jeep also. Yet to wreck it wheeling though! Love working on them both.

Also I added the Pioneer AVIC D2 with IPOD interface. Never regretted not getting the factory NAV. Looks and sounds awesome.
