Call me Gramps

36 - Just bot it on 9/11. I dont believe how many young guys own this car. Here at home, I'm the youngest guy I know driving one of these cars. I just went thru 10 pages of this thread and there was only one guy with the guts to admit he's older than me. I actually like the look of the coupe better, but I have two car seats in the back, and my flexibility is waning in my old age.

Just turned 28. I picked my 2004 G35 sedan after my 1999 g20t tranny died. I blows the g20t out of the water.

2 ways:

#1 They work there a$$ off for 35+ hours a week while going to school full-time.

#2 Mom & Dad

I personally do it by using method #1 (I'm 19)

had both

I've had both a sedan and coupe. Both 04's, both 6MT and both Diamond Graphite with black interior. Bought the sedan at 28 and the coupe at 30 (1 week ago). I'm looking to take the car to the track, so the obvious choice is the coupe (brembos, sportier tires, and a little more hp). I can't tell you which I'll like in the long run yet, but I can tell you that the looks, exhaust note and performance of the coupe gives it a little bit of an edge...oh, and it may sound crazy, but I can fit a snowboard and skiis in the coupe, whereas that's a difficult feat in the sedan with only a passthru. We'll see how the coupe responds on ice with the winter tires though.

I have a hard time understanding why a parent would buy a kid a G...unless it was well deserved. Working for it makes you appreciate it so much more.

Why is it so hard. Some people have the money to give their kid a 40k car. As long as the kids car is not nicer than their parents I think its ok.

24 here... just got my 05 G35x and LOVE it! I think I like the styling better than the coupe myself. Just not sure if i like the looks of the coupe from the back window back. I've ALWAYS wanted a G35 sedan since they've come out tho.

That's an interesting train of thought...but go with it if that's the norm in the OC.

Actually it happens in all the surrounding counties of orange county as well. LA, San Bernardino, Riverside. I know kids driving more expensive cars and their parents bought the car. Why is it an interesting train of thought? Would you buy your kid a piece of sh*t car if you could afford to buy them something nice? No you get them a nice car to enjoy. How much can they actually learn about hard work, some kids get nice cars based on school grades which means their hard work actually has meaning for their life.

How about we agree to disagree on this one. I'm 30 and have purchased every car that I've owned...coming from a good family. I guess my parents just chose the path of teaching me to work hard for the crap that I want. I know people that had nicer cars in high school/college than they do now because their parents picked up the bill on the first car and they had to pick up the bill on the second one...must be deflating. To each his own I suppose.

Regardless, enjoy the ride...I can only imagine the trouble I would have been in if I had a G when I was 21.

I am 28, bought my 04 6MT when I was 26. I just wish the sedan exhaust sounded like the coupe!

Yes, I just picked up my 5th speeding ticket on Monday actually. I've had the car for 11 months now . But its ok I work to pay for my things and addiction to speed.
