Re: **2004** Z Suspension

Gsedan35,
That's correct corner balance can be performed on systems that lacked independant ride-height vs. preload adjustments. However, I prefer to maintain a particular ride-height *equally* at all four corners (mainly to be speed bump friendly around town and for asthetics reasons) after the balance. Often times, one will find their front-end higher than the *REAR* after corner balancing ... espeically when running softer springs up front (as I plan to).

*I appologize for the slight hijacking of this thread*

Re: **2004** Z Suspension

Hey Clint,

You sure did give me the bug. Your assessment was dead on. So much for that. I am trying to come up with a cost-effective way of bringing the car up to snuff (somewhat at least).

Gsedan35,

What is your opinion then of running the Z shocks with the Eibach springs? Probably not a good idea, given the Eibach rates and their progressive nature. I guess it is probably best to wait for the new adjustable shocks, but then again they are NOT gonna be as cheap as the Z suspension.

Re: **2004** Z Suspension

ive actually grown used to the Z suspension, and it feels to me like the body rolls waay to much still. maybe sways, or im thinking of going coilovers soon. plus, the fact that the front is higher than the rear really pisses me off.
i was going to lower the front on RSR springs for the 350Z, but then the camber is going to be a major issue and control arms are just too expensive. might as well get coilovers for the price of those suckers.

Re: **2004** Z Suspension

Does anyone have a good, full-on, side view of a sedan with the Z suspension? I have seen the numbers for the drop, but I didn't realize the front would be visibly higher than the back (at least that's what I gather from nuttyprof's post). Thanks!

Re: **2004** Z Suspension

I'm also about to get the 04 Z setup for my G and was curious about running it with the Eibachs from a Z? Are the Eibachs for the Z/G the same? I can pick up the Z Eibach springs for $50 so I might just do it anyways... Any idea on how much the drop would be with this setup? And are you guys having camber issues running the Z suspension setup only?

Thanks

Re: **2004** Z Suspension

GSedan35 responded to this before. I can't remember the exact specs (I'm sure you can search on it), but the Eibach springs for the Z are designed to lower the Z. Remember that the the stock Z suspension would already drop the sedan about an inch. If you then added Eibachs designed for the Z, you would incur the additional drop that those springs provide for the Z - then you would have some real camber issues. So, if you do want to try Eibachs with the Z shocks, I would use the Eibachs that are designed for the sedan.

Re: **2004** Z Suspension

Thanks, I came to that conclusion as well and decided to go with just the 04 z setup for now. So there shouldn't be any major alignment/camber issues? And is the front noticibly higher than the back (similar to stock Maximas?)

*Sorry if this has been answered before, I had a hard time coming up with anything in searching.

Re: **2004** Z Suspension

So, it sounds as if I used my Nismo S-tune setup on a sedan I would have no problems and about a 1.75" drop....

Would it be possible to align within spec?
Also, anyone running the Stoptech brake kit (13") on a Sedan? I am curious what wheels would clear it.

I don't think the Z struts would be the end all to cure the things you have come to realize with the sedan Eibach spirngs. Certainly the Z struts would control them to a greater degree, but yes the progressive bit would still be their. Single Adjustable Koni's on oem Z springs would be a great way to go, their might be one spot left in EVO350's $675 pre-buy. I am waiting for Tokico's Double adjustable shocks come out, I want to use them on my car.

Sure a S-tune system ment for the Z would work. But man, 1.75" is a awefull lot for a car you might carry passengers with. On the alignment questions, I don't know for sure, but I'm inclined to say no, it would not be within spec. You'd want to use Kinetix rear camber arms and be willing to except more aggressive alignment specs, more like the Z's specs. Thing I don't understand is looking how the alignment shop dialed in my rear toe, using the oem adjustment bolt, I don't see that their's much adjustment left. Now, it could be that the remaining adjustment left progressively ramps higher, I dunno. Honestly, I'm not happy with the alignment I did, I should have left the settings where they were.

Re: **2004** Z Suspension

Thanks for the reply. Those were my thoughts also, looking at the Z suspension, I can tell that if you drop the car more than an inch, you would not be able align within spec on the rear without changing some components.

The only reason I ask is, I am considering trading the Z in on a G35 sedan, and I would hate to buy another suspension setup. I also love the way the S-tunes make the car drive. But, this is good food for thought. Thanks....

Since you know a lot about this stuff, I think i will follow your lead for now and wait for the Tokico shocks myself. What is it meant by "double -adjustable"?

Re: **2004** Z Suspension

Double adjustable means they adjust for compression and rebound. The Tokico D-spec shocks are designed to allow the user to make them softer than oem Z shocks or much firmer. They will have 45 levels of adjustment. Red6 on my350z.com is running the shocks on his Z for testing. He is guessing the shocks will sell in the $800 range.
