Why did you buy a G35?
Why did you buy a G35?
Why did you buy a G35?
I am an undergraduate Anthropology student conducting a research study for my Political Anthropology term project. I would be interested in asking some questions of all G35 coupe and sedan owners. The focus of this project is the Infiniti G35, its history, commodification, labor involved, its consumption, profits, etc.
In this forum, I am focusing on consumption and am specifically looking for the reasons why you, as a car buyer, chose the Infiniti G35. Non owners could also participate, with the reason(s) they are interested with the G35, etc. I would also be interested in asking further questions (possibly even starting email conversations to go further in-depth), ones that would allow this data to be more clearly organized. I have been working on an ongoing research project on the G35 as well as Nissan/Infiniti for about a year.
There are no risks in your participation. Personal information will be kept private. I am merely offering an opportunity for you, as proud G35 owners, to share you reasons and experiences with the community, thereby creating an atmosphere of mutual enlightenment and understanding. The results of this research project will be posted here and/or emailed to interested parties, upon its completion at the conclusion of the term in May.
To appease the Moderators responses and any questions for me should be sent by PM or email to: fraglpunk@houston.rr.com or if neither they nor you mind could be posted here for others to see.

1. Age: 27
2. Sex: Yes
3. Income bracket/level: 2
4. Reason behind selecting the G35:
I was in the market for either a RWD or AWD sedan and of course compaired all my options. In the end it came down to the BMW 330 or the G35. After reading up on both and doing some personal comparisons, the G35 had it beat by a landslide. There is no other car in the market like it. Unmatched. Plus it comes in a 6 Speed.
5. Something you would care to share about your G35 experience:
If you don't own one by now, I suggest you save up and go buy one. A fun car to drive. Lets just say this car is filled with hugs and kisses, it hugs the road thru every corner and has no problem kissing the competitors good-bye.
Questions/Comments/Suggestions for me or the project:

P.S.
For those who care. I drive a Silver Sedan 6MT CA license plate "KRZ HAYN" = "Krazy Hawaiian". A "Shaka" is always welcome.

28, M, 100k +,
Reason:
Look, power, love of the Skyline, old accord had 180,000 miles on it. Got a dealer demo for 8 K off list price.
Experiences: All those riced civic tuners now leave me alone on the highway.

Re: Why did you buy a G35?
I find it surprising that there is such a large difference in the number members that responded on the coupe side section versus to the two that have in the sedan section.
Re: Why did you buy a G35?
Age: 16
Gender: Male
Income bracket/level: Umm, i work part time, but my dad makes a lot.
Reason behind selecting the G35: When i first started saving for a car, my dad said he would pay half the down payment/monthly payment so i did a lot of research (over the course of 1 year) and came down to Acura TL/G35/3 series. Tl was out becuase of Front wheel drive, and the only 3 series i could afford was way too underpowered (325i), and I find the current 3 series so bland, especially in comparison to the lines of the G. The G was more than the perfect car, and i worked out the lease so i could actually afford it (well at least my half of it).
Something i would care to share: Ive never driven a car that is this much fun (I know im only 16, but ive driven quite a few cars in this car class). I am absolutely obsessed with driving it, talking about it, looking at it, waxing it, etc.

3. Income bracket/level: $0 (recently unemployed. Good thing I paid cash!)
4. Reason behind selecting the G35: I wanted a sedan - I like having 4 doors. I wanted Japanese for reliability. After looking at Japanese sedans in the G's price range, I finally drove a G. Aesthetics and status weren't factors. I'm not excited about the G's looks, and everyone here drives German, so Japanese cars don't carry much status. Here's why I chose the G over Acura and Lexus: It's a sedan with 6-speed, 260hp, 260 ft-lb, RWD, and it sticks to the road like crazy glue.
5. Something you would care to share about your G35 experience: Like any car, the G has it's quirks. For me, the big 2 are: The driver's seat is a bit uncomfortable; and I've had some ticks and rattles that were easily fixed at the dealer. The performance far outweighs any complaints I have.
Also, after I bought, I found that Infiniti has great customer service - Dealers vary, but Infiniti Consumer Affairs was very helpful when I had an issue with one of the nearby dealers. The other nearby dealer? Awesome.
Lastly: the G is developing a great aftermarket. There are lots of performance upgrades to turn the car into a monster.
Questions/Comments/Suggestions for me or the project: Make sure to give us a summary of your report when you're done. Good luck.

1. Age: 38
2. Gender: M
3. Income bracket/level: 100+
4. Reason behind selecting the G35: Style, did not want a domestic performance car. Love the handling of the car. I like to own a car most people do not have.
5. Something you would care to share about your G35 experience: I was a little upset that my dealer did not tell me to wait for the G35x. Here in MN it snows and the RWD is not the best in the snow. Otherwise I love to drive it.

3. Income bracket/level: Is Pimpin' Easy? Hell Ya!
4. Reason behind selecting the G35: The G is powerful, yet elegant along with, yeah, I said it ... practical. I've had entirely impractical vehicles all my life, and wanted a vehicle that wouldn't bore me and at the same time wouldn't be eternally in the shop.
5. Something you would care to share about your G35 experience: I'm glad I got the emerald mist color. I get constant compliements about the color of my G, and love the fact that it is a rare color.
