Potential G35 Driver checking in!
Potential G35 Driver checking in!
Hi Guys and Girls,
Introductions and questions to follow!
I currently drive a 2001 Nissan Maxima "20th Anniversary Edition" in Pearl White, and a frequent poster on maxima.org. My love affair with my beloved Maxima will be ending soon as I'm looking to purchase a new car in September.
I'm also one of the biggest Nissan fans around .. its almost a disease, haha ... and the G35x is a BIG contender for my next car, along with a few others.
My MAIN concern is ... which I hope you guys can help me answer ... is the fact that the current generation of the G35 has been out for 3+ Years now. I'm deeply worried that I were to purchase a 2004 (2005 Come September???) that the car will be redesigned the following year.
In which case ... my new car ... won't really be "New" anymore.
So I just wanted to ask all of you for some input in regards to the timeline for the next redesign!
-Peace Peace
Eric

Rumors of an interior restyle for the '05 model year. Nothing confirmed from Infiniti.
Look in the Rides section for pictures of many cars.. plenty of Pearl White sedans in there. The only outward visible difference between them and the AWD model is the little chromed-plastic "x" on the rear.

Excellent advice, LMaz...Nissans, on average, take a $5K dive when a new body style is released, so that is definitely something to consider...However, a buyer really needs to be wary of rumors when it comes to the automotive world...Misinformation abounds, and sometimes something that is supposed to happen gets tanked...It's hard to know what information to believe...I'm a big fan of www.nissannews.com and recommend that someone worried about possible new body styles or interior designs monitor this site, as they cover both Nissan and Infiniti...The news sections are press releases worldwide, so I find it to be quite reliable

Re: Potential G35 Driver checking in!
No - it is pretty much 100% that the interior will be redesigned for the 2005 model. Danny from Grubbs on FA says so and I was talking to a guy at a dealer and he said the same thing. He said they are going to be having an advertising campaign calling it "The new G".
Re: Potential G35 Driver checking in!
Not to say that the dealerships are lying.. they might very well have a good source at Infiniti. However, until Infiniti issues a press release, I wouldn't hold my breath. That may be the current plan, but plans sometimes change.

Hehe I'm well aware of the forums / sites, freshalloy.com, nissannews.com I'm on them ALL!!
I made the mistake in MY current Maxima, in the fact that 1 year after I bought mine ... the next generation got the 3.5 VQ, and the Xenon headlights long with other things.
I don't want to make the same mistake in terms of the G35, and have the car redesigned 1 year or a few months after I purchase it.
I've been digging for info on this topic for the last little while and couldn't find any ... that is why I'm turning to you guys ... hopefully you could give me an answer!

Re: Potential G35 Driver checking in!
Umm...LOL
"Pretty much 100%"?...If something is pretty much 100% doesn't that really make it 75% to 99%? I mean, DEFINITELY or ASSUREDLY or POSITIVELY 100% would hold the value of a perfect 100, but pretty much or almost or possibly 100% would have to hold a value of less than 100, and I'll agree to placing a value of 75% or 99% on that...I think 99% is even too much for "pretty much", but I'll let let slide, even though I'm more comfortable with a value of 90% in that case...
Anyway, just joking around, in my opinion, just saying, blah blah blah...Just because a dealer or even GM passes forth some "pretty much accurate" information does not mean the info is at all reliable...Until a press release, and most importantly, a product is released to the public for sale the information is nothing less than speculation...I worked for a Nissan dealership and was top dog as far as product knowledge and future products/redesigns and never passed on anything I came across until the corporation itself announced the release to the public...The automotive industry is too fickle and misinformation too prevalent to not take things at face value...In other words, believe it when you see it

How is 03 and 04 equal 3yrs? I bet they don't change it much.. and if you keep the car 5yrs I can't see how a change of models is going to affect your resale... if you aren't going to keep it long term you are probably better off leasing

Re: Potential G35 Driver checking in!
Hey Empz, I'm in the same boat as you (currently a pearl white maxima owner, from maxima.org, and looking to get a G). I've also been researching to find out as much as possible before I make my decision. I haven't found anything concrete except that Infiniti is stating (on their website) that there will be the unveiling of their current and future plans at the New York car show April 8th. If there will be significant changes to the upcoming and/or future model(s) (like a boost in power) I'm expecting that they'll present that information then. So I would just sit tight and wait a couple weeks (which is what I'm doing).

Hey Fellow Maxima owner craving for a G ... who are you on the ORG??
Yeah ... I've been searching and searching for info for the past like 3 months ... and I'm DYING to know when they are gonna do a revision ... if this current body is gonna stay for another 2+ years I'm all GO GO GO for the G35!

The sedan initially came out in March '02 as an '03 model, so it's been out for 3 calendar years now, even though it's only in it's second model year.
