week and a half for me to be comfortable with it, a full month i'd say to really get to a point where i considered myself really smooth, including things like revmatching, and heel toe

First time I learned was on a friend's 1994 Ford Escort when I was in the Marine Corps. I drove his car down from Pendleton into San Diego to look at a car I wanted to buy. I grinded the gears all the way there and back. I could spell the clutch burning. Coincidentally, his tranny had to be replaced about a month later. Not sure if I killed it, or if it was just a POS Ford.

Not long if you have good hand eye coordination. Or good at multitasking..that's what it boils down to. Also even if you learn on a little corolla your still gonna suck at driving the g for a while. It's not the easiest car to drive at first.

1 day. you'll be amazed how fast you learn in NJ rush hour traffic. you'll only grind gears if you don't press the clutch down all the way... so remember don't try to shift too fast and fully engage the clutch before you shift!

Praticed once in a Porsche 914 went out bought the car and drove it home. Went out on a date next day, stalled once. That was in high school.

To get REALLY GOOD? A few weeks. To become comfortable with it? About 2 days. But I was 16 and was just learning how to drive a car period.

My father taught me when I was 12, I had no idea how to even drive yet. It took me about 3 mornings to pull it all together and be able to drive smoothly. I learned on a 5 speed 198something 200 SX.

i picked it up with my dad's instruction after a couple hours when i was 12, i believe. he had an '83 toyota celica, great little car. i had also practiced a few times before that on a '79 celica, and numerous times afterwards on various cars. by the time i went for my driver training at 16 i was proficient and could rev-match, heel-toe etc...

you'll be fine. when in doubt, dis-engage (press the pedal) the clutch to keep from stalling. make sure you practice hill starts and parallel parking.

15 - Learned on the way home from picking up my first car, 86 BMW 325, stalled immediately coming out of the parking lot and then sat in Dallas rush hour for about an 2 hours getting home...done deal from there...Had pops in the passenger seat "teaching" (slapping me across the back of the head) for bad starts and grinding...never had to replace any tranny's, including my Eclipse GST with 130,000 miles, even had the stock clutch...
