One month old G35 is going in the body shop :(

So this is what happened. I was driving south today on the highway doing 65mph. Was in the right most lane. Next thing I knew there was a large piece of something in my lane. I swurved to miss it. Well my left front tire still cliped it. It some how caused the piece to throw itself up into my car, causing a HUGE gash ripping the floorboard of my car open under the driver side floor pan. I was dragging it along the highway and lots of sparks behind me. I pulled over immediately, and kicked the piece out. This piece is about 10 inches long, about 3 inches in width. Like a trailer piece. It was heavy as well. Pure steel. The gas in my floor board is about 2 inches wide, and about 6-8 inches long. The carpet stopped it from damaging anymore it seems. Carpet was undamaged luckly. It's going in for one day for carpet removal on one side, welding, resurface and paint bottom of car. They said I will never notice.

God I hate debri like that!

Wow, when you think of what damage (to you) that debris could have done.............
Good luck with repairs; at least they're hidden underneath.

Damn, at least it doesn't sound THAT bad.

A similar thing happened to me on I-35 when a dumptruck's driveshaft fell out in front of me at 65 mph. 9 cars hit it, and mine (a Maxima) at the time was the only car that was capable of driving away. 1 week later my transmission blew due to a leak.
