Transmission replacement
A full built 5AT that hold 750hp is less that that.
Get it rebuilt by a tranny shop, or just have them get you a new one.
You need to be careful when getting one from a junkyard, as there are 5 different 5AT trannys.

I had the same thing happen to me on my 03 G35. I bought the car used with about 70-72k miles on it and the trans started slipping at 87k miles. I didn't buy the extended warranty because of my faith in the Nissan Product. O well live and learn. It's gonna cost me about $2200 for a used transmission with about 40k miles on it installed with a 12 month unlimited mileage warranty.
wow - this is pure user error. These trannys are problem free as long as you care for the ATF fluid level...black ATF in the tranny... you have no one to blame but yourself.
the ATF dipstick is located behind the throttle body. You need a 10 mm socket to access it. I drained my tranny fluid at 25k before the car was sold.
go to a junkyard and get yourself another tranny. You have a 100k car - you dont need to put a brand spankin new tranny in it.
this isnt nissans fault. This is a common problem I hear every other week coming from honda owners, toyota owners, suzuki owners, hyndai owners etc etc etc. That fluid must be cared for and maintained. ATF doesnt change itself. If you were leaking ATF your transmission would start to "slip" and your motor would freely rev. Any such weird behavior should immediately raise red flags for you to check your fluids.

In between the scheduled service at the dealer I always check fluids. I've owned them all, from 12 second street cars to big trucks. I've NEVER had tranny issues. So you're going to sit here and tell me that my tranny issues are USER ERROR? Please enlighten me smart ***....

I don't want to start a war here, my 03 G35 was bought used with 70k miles on it. I don't know what kind of service was done before I got it, but I know that any trans should live longer than 87k miles. My 2001 expedition has 215k miles on it, I bought it used as well with 50k miles on it, got lazy and didn't get the trans service then next thing I knew it had over 100k. I had serveral techs tell me that with that trans with over 100k on it if it had never been serviced before don't mess with it now. it runs fine and turns 37" tires for well over 130k miles and tows a Jeep from time to time. also the fact that Infiniti used three different transmissions in 03 the # on the trans in mine was only used for two or three months. that tells me that Infiniti knew they had a problem.
Last followup
Got the car repaired. Infiniti dealer came dow to $3200 taxes in instead of original $5200. Much better but still hard to believe a tran would go after 117,000 kms. May be selling in a couple months.

I dont mean to make any problems - im just offering another perspective. I just feel like people are so quick to point the blame at the manufacturer - and then many forum members start to jump on the manufacturer faults bandwagon. But as DaveB said, "nothing lasts forever" - I dont think nissan is to blame when the ATF fluid level checked on shorwills vehicle was black in color when it is actually supposed to be Red. When ATF turns a darker color it has been broken down and it needs to be changed. Whether you agree or disagree with my opinion is one thing, but there is no reason to get hostile. My apologies if it were found offensive
