Re: vdc
I suppose "it depends" would be the best answer.
If you're going straight, and your tires are good enough not to hydroplane, then nothing. Even if they do, VDC can't do much against hydroplaning.
If you're going around a corner and the back end starts to fishtail, it'll reduce the throttle and brake one of the wheels to try to pull the car back in line. If there's enough traction, it works fine. If you're going too fast and the tires can't hang on to the wet surface, then VDC's efforts will fail and the car will fishtail (or plow straight ahead in understeer like a FWD car.. happened to me once).
The system's more for saving the average driver under average unexpected circumstances. It's not really good at saving your butt when you're pushing the envelope or driving beyond safe speeds to start with.

Re: vdc
it works well at high speeds. I am still waiting to find out what VDC does on a blow out. That has me pretty scared, normally I can control a car after a blow out unless it rolls

Re: vdc
I think VDC works well at least at low speed.
I am in bay area, CA
a couple of months back i was getting on 101 off the ramp and maybe going a little to fat for the ramp about 40mph.
That was a rainy season at that time and I tried to punch the car more as went through the turning ramp and the G35 sedan started fish tail but before I know it I saw the VDC light come on for a fraction of a second the car seems almost straightened itself. I was kind of impressed.

I agree. I live in the Houston area and it rains quite a bit here.
I do like to punch the G35 and when the streets are wet,
I get the VDC to come on regularly. The slip light comes
on often also. I do need new tires! Those EL42's are destined
for the trash heep soon.
