Windshield Wipers Slapping Hard

This is my 1st post so wanted to say hello.

Just purchased about 3 weeks ago a black 03 G35 sedan coming from a 2000 I30t. Wow, what a difference. Could not pass up the deal on this car. I know the black is going to require some extra care but it sure looks great.

Anyway I have a small problem with the wipers. THey are slapping hard when on the upstroke hitting the B-pillar and really hard on the way down. How in the hell do I fix this or have any of you had this problem? Thanks in advance!

Sam

I've had this problem before also. You just have to loosen the nut that holds the wiper down and adjust it a little higher. That's what I did.

that might not work. I had this problem also. When I went to the dealer they said that my wiper motor was bad and it was going to be like 250 or so to get a new one. I was like hell no so I took the motor out myself and saw it was that the problem was on the arms in wiper motor assembly. There are these little white plastic circle thingys that was broken and that is what caused my problem. You cant order just those white things so you have to order that whole arm which is was only like 16 bucks or so. Hope this helps and welcome

I think my wife is having a similar problem with her 2003 G35. When I was driving it before I gave it to her my wipers would sort of "stutter" if I had the setting on intermittent.

Is that what your's are doing??????

It is so annoying and I need to have it looked at.

OK here is what happened. During the last snow there was ice buildup on the blade and it was not cleaning the window thoroughly. So when the wiper was on and on the upstroke so to speak, I reached out of the window and popped the blade before it went down to get the ice off. Make sense? Guess I inhibited or gave some resistance to the wiper and that is when it started doing this. It does not do it all the time. Sometime the blade will stop way short of its normal resting point on its way down. But the last 2 times I have used them they are slapping hard. Annoying as hell

I think I threw them out of adjustment?????

ok

i actually had this problem and did a write up of a fix on a different forum

there are arms for the "transmission" of the assembly. They have plastic inserts designed to go bad so that your motor doesn't when pushing heavy snow or excessive use.

This is what the arm looks like when it is off

check the alignment on the blades there are 2 marks on the glass down by wiper blades in the glass and thats where the wipper insert should sit. I had the same problem when they were on high speed. do that and see what happens

Thank you very much. I will check alignment this evening when I get home to see if this is the problem. If not then what Tollboothwilly says. For some reason I get Red X's on my computer here at work so I can't see the pics.

I have that problem too, I'll try the alignment but if that fails, where do I get the 'new link' shown in the pics? Is there a part number? I can't find the assembly in the manual I just bought (might be looking in the wrong place)

Did you get a chance to look at the part number. I have the same problem and the dealer just quoted me for the entire assy. ($225). They are not gonna hit me over the head!

They are trying to "knock you out". The part is like $16-$20 and takes 1 hour labor. They must be trying to do more and if not tell them to Fwack themselves.
