If you get the trim painted, it's a big deal. You can tape off the areas and paint it or have the parts removed and painted. If removing them, there are some clips that will get broken and you'll end up replacing the trim parts.

it can be removed without anything breaking... but yes, you must be careful, and yes it is a PITA... plus - be sure to have very quality clear sprayed over - mine is starting to chip. The car is going to touch up (if/when some other paint work is complete)... then cleared with aircraft quality clear coat... painting is better IMO, but it is a bit of a PITA.

I like the chrome around the windows. It adds some class to a classy car. As long as your wheels have a polished/chrome lip I think they work well.

I see your point Tim, maybe if I go to a vinal shop and have them just cover it so I can get a better idea. What do you guys think.

I hope you mean like vinyl film/overlays... and not vinyl fabric like 70's roof...

If I were to do it over I'd do true black chrome. Nothing better than that look IMO (and I may bite then bullet at some point and buy all new trim and handle to black chrome them... other wise vinyl overlays is the next best bet - I'd wait for Bat's since we know the fitment will be spot on and he uses quality material.

I would do that first to get an idea. I doubt they will have something that matches your car but at least you can see what it would be like without chrome.

you said it before i was going to. the chrome trim gives it the luxury part of the car. if it were all blacked out, it will look like a 325i or something. No offense to you, DaveB. Still looks hot. but if i were to do it, i'd only have the door handles painted.

I've had the door handles blacked out for over 2 years. I decided to black out the chrome after numerous non-car friends said it would look better blacked. I too liked the chrome trim around the windows, but I thought I'd give it a shot. I'm really happy with it. It really takes out some of the mass from the middle of the car. Most sports sedans don't any chrome trim around the windows. For the most part, it's a Japanese thing and base model German thing now.

Hmmmm.... I work at a vinyl shop. I'll see what I can find out. Are you looking for something shiny or matte?

I think it looks really good on OB. Not sure how it would look on other colors. I'm always afraid of it looking over done. The chrome give it a nice contrast.
