Re: Spoiler Question

There is only one kind offered from the dealer as far as I know. However, I have seen in other posts that some guys have looked into after market spoilers from accessory places. You'll just have to do a little surfing. I personally like the stock spoiler you get with the car. I know others don't though. It just comes down to personal preference. To get a look at some stock spoilers just check out the rides section.

Re: Spoiler Question

Try looking on www.japanparts.com for body kits.

Re: Spoiler Question

Check out the pic,... two different spoilers, both aftermarket, the one on the right is the factory style. Sites to check out, infinitparts.net, spoilerdepot.com.

Both sedanman and myself purchased the aftermarket from infinitiparts.net and are willing to vouch for the quality of this product.

If you like it, buy it, installation is easy and it looks great.

Re: Spoiler Question

I have the spoiler on the right, the factory style.

It looks like the spoiler on the left is more like a lip, like the IS300 has, but I haven't seen these in person myself. Here's a pic from spoilerdepot.com

Re: Spoiler Question

pesti... I like the small lip spoiler that on the IS300 and BMW 3-series, but since I had never seen the lip on a G, I didn't want to take a chance.

We need some better pics....from someone....builder1?

Could you guys list any recommendations for places to install a rear spoiler around the Irvine area?

On the trunk usually looks best. Oh, I kill me.

I had teh dealer put the factory spoiler on at my 15k checkup. I was going to go with the lip style, but that was $200 painted and installed, then anther $100 for the underbody diffusers (those are what actually lower the cg, not the spoiler). I figured I might as well go with the stock. Probably coulda gotten cheaper than at the dealer.

Cool

The one major advantage that the factory spoiler has is that IT WORKS and is not just cosmetic. This has been discussed at length in previous threads ( check out "Downforce: Factory Spoiler" in the "Search" option and read some of the posts and performance facts in an effort to make a decision. Another seling point is that it comes factory painted and is fairly easy to install if you've got some basic skills. Good luck...JBX

I got the G2 lip spoiler from Unlimited Tuning. I test fitted it and it matches the curve of the decklid perfectly. It is at the body shop right now getting painted. As soon as I get it back, I'll install it and take pics. As far as the factory spoiler, it is just too big for my taste on the sedan's trunk lid. Also, to install one after market would require drilling holes in my car. Something that just isn't gonna happen. Metal shavings get into the deck lid and cause rust. It happened on another car I owned. The G2 lip is held in place with 3M tape that is used to hole on body side mouldings, emblems, etc. It won't come off.

Plus the factory spoiler has the cool LED third brake light.
