G35x Test Drive

Just got done test driving a G35x.

Pro's - awesome handling and acceleration. We drove through some very windy roads and the car held to them like glue. Visibility was also very good. The engine response and sound is simply amanzing.

Con's - after 30 minutes behind the wheel my right leg was going numb. I now know why so many folks are complaining about the drivers seat. The instrument cluster looks like it came out of Kia, it isn't befitting of a car of this class.

I'm bummed, I really wanted to fall in love with this car and buy one this weekend, but the seat issue has given me pause. I guess I'm going to wait until the fall to see if the interior is revamped.

(btw, I'm 5'9" 180lbs)

Re: G35x Test Drive

I’m in exactly the same situation as you are. I thought about waiting until the 2005 model as well. My only concern in waiting is that in a couple of years there will be a new body style. I hate it when my car gets old.

I was totally sold on the G35X but the seats are a problem and the interior is nothing much. I thought that I would never be interested in the Acura TL but I took one for a test drive and WOW! I must admit that TL has the most comfortable seats and a very appealing interior. The seats are really comfortable and the dash is really laid out nice. After the test drive, I’m really thinking of getting a TL this year. If I could only get the body style of the G35 with the TL interior.

Re: G35x Test Drive

I've been leaning toward the G35x due to AWD and the fact that it is by nature, a RWD car. However, autospies is reporting that Acura is adding AWD to the RL this fall (so it stands to figure that the TL might get it too).

I've seen a boat load of TLs around lately, IMHO the G35x still blows it away in terms of styling.

I know what you're saying, my bro picked up a TL last Friday and the interior is amazing. However, the outside is so plain jane. I wish I could have the G35 with the TL interior also, I don't think I'd ever buy another car again...

I'm around 6'1" and personally love the seat. I've had no trouble with any part of me falling asleep. I would agree that parts of the interior could be improved but overall its an amazing car.

I agree. I'm 6'2" and no problems with the seat. The cluster panels are one of my peves when it's raining and have the heads on (too dim). Also the passenger shoulderbelt that keeps banging against the post is starting to annoy me.
